It's the 6-Gear Version with 295% range. Pretty much the same Range as a SRAM DH 7-Gear Setup. The reason for the Gearbox was first of all less unsprung weight on the rear wheel (about 450g), which makes the suspension more active and supple / plush. Which is the whole point of a DH-Bike suspension i'd say. The weight also sits perfectly low in the frame and makes the bike feel super planted and stable (low center of gravity). Hey guys I used to race for a Yeti developmental team out here in Colorado and picked one of these frames up. Until a recent garage cleaning it had been lost to the world. It is a limited run frame done by Yeti for Jared Graves in the Olympics. Ive seen some debate on how many where made anywhere from 100-250 frames. This is number #65. Well, if you look into it you'll find that there isn't any science behind the Catalyst pedal. In fact, you'll find that the studies that James Wilson refers to just backs up flat pedals in general, and that there is nothing there that indicates that a longer platform should be beneficial. Hint: if that was the case, why isn't the pedal offered in different sizes to fit different people? That said, I suppose its ok to like the Catalyst pedal, just don't tell me that the design is based on some kind of science :-)

You'd be amazed at how much better parts hold up under pros than punters... Pros know how to ride better and have mechanics to keep things running right... Your average hack doesn't have the smoothness of a pro, even on a trail that is a lot easier than a WC course.. Now, give a pro a part and tell them to break it.. Different story..
