agreed. the first 2 years i rode DH i went through probably 6 derailleurs a season, then i learned to pick better lines and not smash the hell of out things.

Hold up… You carry a spare derailleur when you ride?!? Are your trails on Mount Doom or something?

I think it might be related to choice of derailleur too. I sold my X01 Eagle derailleur to a friend of mine who mounted it to his kid's bike where he says it shifts much better than the one year old GX it replaced. And I'm talking about an X01 that started life on a bike in 2019 and was used up to mid 2023, did over 400k meters of descending, multiple races and was, if nothing else, the only supporting point when I parked my bike sideways straight on the derailleur onto some soil fixating logs on the trail...

The thing I've learned from all this broken derailleur talk is that I don't ride hard enough.

I stopped reading Enduro-MTB when they defended headset cable routing as cleaner and "people whinged about internal routing so stop whinging".

Can anyone explain the marketing strategy of Pivot letting Enduro-Mtb feature/review the bike and not showing it anywhere else, including their website ??

The TR11, Smuggler, and Spur are the only non-trunnion models. The Spire, Scout, Sentinel, Relay, Repeater (PT and EP8), and Patrol all have trunnion mounted shocks.

I think that the derailleur hanger stopped being a sacrificial part after we moved from 11spd to 12spd (maybe 10 to 11) because the tolerances are tighter everything has to be stiffer and more precise. It’s very difficult to make a hanger stiff enough for good 12spd shifting and still sacrificial.

I’m seeing GX-level builds with unspecified derailleurs in my embargoed crystal ball… I haven’t seen anything about it in the orb, but I’m really hoping the X0 tier survives in a cable actuated format as well.

Zooming in on the photo. Adjustable progression on lower shock mount. Adjustable geo via seatstay chip Adjustable reach with headset cups. Custom chainset (don't know brand). It will be eye wateringly expensive (not from photo......it's just a Pivot).

Genuinely surprised they kept the twin chain transmission on the production bike. That is a lot of proprietary parts and complexity. I assumed they would just simplify it to a traditional idler set up. There must be some tangible benefits to justify it.

Yeah but how else are they going to differentiate the stumpy 15 from the stumpy 15 evo?

I wish this would have been an option on my Stumpy 15. I’ve really been liking the Genie coming from a Vivid Air and SD air but it gets noticeably hot on long descents and changes feel. This might have fixed that.

Looks like Spec launched new colors for the Turbo Levo SL and more interesting they also quietly launched a new Genie Float X. Basically a Genie with an extra Reservoir.
