11/18/2024 8:22am Let's stop arguing about boiling points and get back to rumors. I go by which mineral oil tastes the best anyways.

11/18/2024 8:19am No offense, but my hunch is that a $900 no-name dual crown for Surrons probably rides like a $900 no-name dual crown for Surrons. If you want to jump on that grenade to find out for the rest of us, I salute you, but I don't imagine RFloXa is killing themselves to sort out the finer points of suspension dynamics for the mostly beginner, mostly pavement-pounder Surron market in the same way that Fox, RS, EXT, or others in the high-end MTB space do.

11/18/2024 8:18am Zink Bikes is dropping a new 27.5” model, I have no clue on geo and specs but this is what I’ve gleamed from ocbikeworks on Insta so far. “150 travel and it’s possible to run 26” in the back, but all the material shared with us suggests it’s meant for 27.5 without any mods. $1650 retail for the frame.” And like all shops they hook up the discount on parts to build it up. Has me intrigued for sure.

11/18/2024 5:24am Did Specialized just break a new record of the most expensive MTB from a big box brand? The non-motorized version (SJ15) is $18,000 CAD

11/18/2024 5:23am There's no shortage of Ranges in my neck of the woods, which makes sense because my neck of the woods is British Columbia, where there's plenty of Norco dealers and the current Range makes a bundle more sense for the average "enthusiast" level rider in a two bike quiver than the Shore or a bunch of other options. I don't think you're right in statement that it was "never going to be a bike racers actually used in enduro". Maybe it's not the bike that the pros use, but roll up to any enduro race in BC and you're guaranteed...

11/18/2024 5:21am The life of the current gen range is super interesting. Came out of nowhere kinda received no end of praise but it was never going to be a bike that racers actually used in enduro. Super heavy and squishy. Maybe the existence of the shore at the same time hurt its overall sales since you could buy a squish monster from the same brand for cheaper. Probably tracks way better but if you're a "freeride" guy, do you care? Or do you just care that it has a lot of travel? Seems to have been a really good practice of...

11/7/2024 6:55am I know there is a 2 year exclusivity for specialized and fox for the genie. I just can’t remember what they said happens after that. It could be that speci will loop rockshox in at that point, so we could theoretically be seeing or will see a rockshox genie either being tested or going to market. Again, I can’t remember how the speci/fox genie exclusivity thing works

10/28/2024 9:09pm Are these "worn out in less than 200 miles" XTR cassettes in the room with us right now? They can creak, especially he earliest ones, but I've put thousands of miles on these and don't find they wear differently than any other cassette.

10/27/2024 10:20am As if bikes aren't expensive enough already, with those pesky round interference holes in place. Sounds like a good idea but I suppose it would be very dificult to implement, because of distortion/alignement issues. We can't afford the quality needed for that, with bikes costing 10k already, as shitly made as most of them are.

10/23/2024 7:18pm Saw this EXT Vaia at Sundance loam pass event on an Ari, talked to the ext guys for a bit about it. He said it’s internally adjustable from 170-200, meant for heavy enduro and dh. He said they’ll start selling hopefully in November for around 2k USD

10/23/2024 7:17pm There's also this in the regular bike catalog. The text which has had a filter applied, when copied, spits out this: R.DERAILL. Shimano XTR Di2 M9250-12 GS shadow+ SHIFTLEV. Shimano XTR Di2 M9250 CRANKSET Shimano XTR M9200-12 Carbon 32T BOTTOM BR. Shimano MT900 pressfit PA29 MTB SPROCKET Shimano XTR M9200-12 / 9-45 CHAIN Shimano M9100-12 So that's Shimano's first(?) carbon cranks confirmed? And the brake name is in full view, the new protos we've seen aren't saint? M9220 seems it would be the 4 piston variant.
