Also Neko has been smart to get non bike industry sponsors who have significantly bigger pockets, like loc-tite and WD40. Yes they don't have a team truck like Trek or Canyon, but that doesn't mean they're not able to pay well.

To play devil's advocate Dunne is s 2 time world cup winner and a fair bit younger than Dak so I think if the team has a hierarchy Ronan has a fairly good claim on the no.1 spot . Having said that if Dak can have a good off season and get stronger then he's definitely a potential race winner , I'm not sure who Mondraker could get from the available riders who you would say is an upgrade on Dak . That's assuming its Mondrakers decision and Dak hasn't had an offer and it's his choice to leave .

The big story isn't the French surrender, but Asa the fastest rider of the day. A child has beaten the elite.

Don't forget that someone like Danny Hart is also employed for MTB development. That's in some ways more important than results. At least in the initial phase. I also see him as a good linespotter althoug that might be not the main purpose. I would rather see him as a rider, but his time as a podium contender is probably over. But we need more Peatys as voaches and overall good performance oriented dudes at the top of the world rankings.

As good as Danny is, I don't think it's going to trend up for him anymore at world cups, sadly. Same goes for all the Norco elite males, I think they really need to sign someone that at least makes finals regularly and be a consistent top 10 threat. The next year both Alrans, Asa, Taylor, and Oli are moving up to elite, I imagine they'll take at least 3-4 spots consistently of the top 30, and maybe all 5 on a good day. If enough high profile riders can't get a factory ride on a world cup team hopefully the pool of elite riders entering Crankworx will expand to make a more entertaining series and then fans end up with two exciting competitions to follow. If Danny hart and bernard kerr and Reece wilson were riding I'd definitely watch crankworx regularly. Those guys are never again stepping on a world cup podium with the new generation of riders that are comin through. Its possible The top ten next year could consist of entirely under 23s .

I think it will be a very interesting off-season. Many riders who were unlucky this season will probably stay on the track. The new UCI rules are not good for the majority of riders, especially since there is no feeder series. I assume that riders ranked below 22nd will have a very difficult time. Greenland, Hatton, Hart, Wilson are some of the ones I'm worried about. Wilson has a team, just like Gwin. But both riding and managing seem difficult to me today.
