Can we just take a second and throw some shade on that big, furry, soon to be drenched in trail debris & water...toe box? Reminds me of a costume where they use felt to portray the fur on a bull or something. Or that purple felt that came on Skeletor's purple tiger.

So Stickman what's wrong with having options? I grew up BMX , a few years younger than you, and appreciate a good skate/bmx style shoe . However, riding in the winter or in the mud with laces is awful. Even if one of the key players makes a flat shoe with velcro, laces, boa or a combination, there will always be plenty of just all lace shoes out there regardless

My RC wildcats have a velcro strap and laces. Been riding them for a year and very impressed.

UnparallelUp makes one. They made the molds for FiveTen & Teva's MTB program & produce MTB shoes now. They use climbing rubber on their shoes that is supposed to be as/if not grippier/ than Stealth. I've not gotten to pluck a set up. I've got Freerider Pro's with Horizon pedals and when the Pro's trash themselves, strongly considering the Dust Up from Unparralel. Guys in the sweaty south have said they breathe a little better than a FiveTen, but you gotta like a flexy sole. Dear 5/10, Specialized, RC etc. will you PLEASE make a flat shoe with Velcro or at least a combo of Velcro /laces? I know many have been asking for a while. Maybe there are few I am unaware of. If so, I am open to someone pointing them out. Like them or hate them, nothing has yet match 5/10's grip feel. I know RC is making some good shoes. Haven't ridden Specialized.

Anyone on here ever tried to put on a race with UCI qualifying points? It is not cheap. Then you will sometimes get big riders there and they don't need the points but fly in and take them all up. Like Eddie said, you would need to win 2 or 3 of those races to get the points, but if a few trade team guys show up then the local fast guys are racing for 5th place points at best. Don't get me wrong, it was great seeing Gwin at Plattekill, one year there were several top riders. There go...

I feel this. I remember the freecaster and early redbull days, it was just more exciting. Beating a dead horse, but many tracks seem to manufactured sometime, no soul. I forget what video it was but I remember a rock garden from the early 2000's (maybe in earthed 1 or 2) that took everyone the weekend to figure out, it was so raw. I'm still stoked on the current races and my heart rate still gets up on some runs, but the magic of 2008-2013 seems to be lacking without these darkhorse random racers coming out of left field and...

Another issue: the UCI should take a look at how the FIS handles the comebacks of injured skiers. As far as I know when injured skiers come back they are in an "insured state" for a couple of races where they can keep their pre-injured starting position. So something like with Myriam Nicole should not happen. She was former World Champion, is current Vice World Champion but was not allowed to participate at A practice. I assume she was not protected, so a mechanical or crash in qualification would have taken her out of the race. I further assume such...

Whilst all these points are very valid, why shouldnât the UCI and red bull make the best TV show to cover the pinnacle of DH racing? I have been a fan of DH for over 20 years and the coverage now is the best it has ever been.
