5/6/2026 10:56pm my 2 cents after spending some time on the bike is that I really want to spend more time on the bike. A couple anecdotes here: I was surprised at how well it pedalled and the lack of heft that I was expecting after looking at it. After giving it back for a month I had to film on it with no time to get familiar again. First trail was a rapid North Van classic that I have ridden a bunch and I was immediately sending it. It was extremely poppy while still being planted, able to pull for all...

5/5/2026 7:34pm Funnily enough, Wikipedia (which supports this use of the word) references but contradicts Wiktionary and its sources. If you think of an idler as being an intermediate part of a powertrain, i.e. not being directly on a power input or output shaft, and then squint hard enough, you might be able to rationalise it... FWIW I always assumed the meaning is as you state and will probably continue to do so.

5/5/2026 7:33pm V1 dreadnought is about as high as they get and even that was 29mm at full travel

5/5/2026 7:33pm The comparable bike that is approaching 30mm of rearward travel at sag is the Craftworks ENR with 27mm or so. That thing is on the extreme end of high pivot. The RMU is not. 13mm is a more likely number...

5/5/2026 7:29pm For anyone who's curious what Weagle says about the Nighttrain suspension layout but doesn't want to scroll through IG comments, answering someone who asked about the design intent behind the bike: "Initially trying to gain a bit more mid corner traction on race bikes but as I hated [typo?] on the idea more and more I began to appreciate that it solves a lot of other issues. Definitely not an immediately intuitive benefit for me, it grew on me. In the end it turns out that by the numbers and by seat of the pants human pedaling a bike, this...

5/5/2026 1:52am I am fine with 12spd Eagle X01 durability, except for the clutches. Although I always liked Shimano I wasn‘t blown away by their 12spd mtb stuff. What absolutely amazes me is their 11spd Linkglide XT! I have 10.000km on my first cassette and second chain, now it is worn, but it still doesn‘t miss a single shift. I never even had to adjust the cable tension. It is so good, it is almost too good to be true. 250-300g more weight on the cassette to the Eagle. And only 11-50t, not 10 to 50t.

5/4/2026 3:46pm What spec model was it? I just pulled the trigger and put a float SL on my optic. I need to play with it a bit more but got it in the ballpark pretty quick. Lsc all the way on, 25% sag. I'll go out one day and do some bracketing of the fork and shock to work on the...

5/4/2026 3:43pm Spent the weekend on the Forbidden Reya, and wow what fast and capable bike. I would guess it’s about eight pounds lighter than my normal bike. Climbing was effortless and the reduced rolling resistance made acceleration noticeable This probably wouldn’t be my only bike for what I normally ride, but was great for its intended use and a bit beyond Was impressed with the motive brakes, but I think these would be replaced with something else if was my only bike. The forecaster tires in exo+ casing held up better than expected. I did have some traction moments , but...

4/29/2026 5:19pm Pick a chainring size and be a dick about it? Honestly who cares. Kind of reminds me of skiing, where if you don’t ski on 130 flex boots you’re a lil bish. I have a commute and regular guy job and live kinda far from trails. I don’t have as much free time as others to be an ascent monster. Let me enjoy my 30t ring. Don’t yuck my yum yo!!

4/29/2026 5:18pm It depends what settings you have the system in. I wrote an article about it recently for a print magazine here in Aus. I would bet (and hope) whatever is being used here is much more advanced than anything available to the consumer currently.

4/25/2026 8:41pm I don't see any reason to think that the v10 is going to move to UDH. Moving to UDH means giving up adjustable chainstay flip chips, and Syndicate runs Shimano drivetrain which doesn't use UDH anyway. Most people don't want or need a heavy, expensive, battery powered derailleur on their DH bike.

4/21/2026 7:26pm It would be really cool if they kept selling the current aluminum demo with a poverty spec for people that don’t want to refinance their house. For what it’s worth that bike seemed universally liked.

4/21/2026 7:24pm I want to see Shimano release something developed from their 2019 internal "gearbox" patent. It had an even higher output shaft position and would make high-pivots easier to pull off without an idlers.
