9/29/2025 9:35am I feel like this is going to be an expensive article to read. Edit: I wasn't wrong but I haven't found them in stock anywhere in US apart from some obscure ebay dude.

9/28/2025 8:36am Interesting! Not sure how they got this far without picking it up, and I was going to speculate on other causes but decided against it. I've never worked on one of these And yeah having more oil on the seal doesn't help, although a failed RSU seal quickly makes a huge mess too. Ideally seals are always "leaking" a tiny bit to maintain a film on the surface, so the RSU fork should be getting at least some oil back up on the wiper. Good lubricating oil sticks to the surfaces so its not 100% relying on gravity. A proper...

9/26/2025 10:59am So, basically quite a bit like the Hans Dampf? (I really like the HD, it rails corners yet it rolls way faster than a similar size / compound Magic Mary)

9/26/2025 10:46am FWIW I am amazed at how uncomfortable the ride is anytime I sit on a MTB hardtail. After racing xc on a hardtail for 6 years 20 years ago. Maybe a full suss gravel bike would make sense for someone used to a trail/enduro bike and the comfort it brings.

9/24/2025 1:40pm Could be the proverbial foot in the door strategy. New wheel size -> new axle/hub size and interface -> new standard for forks & frames -> massive marketing push for adoption of this shit in 29 and 27.5 wheel sizes because fake math and other bro benefits.

9/23/2025 4:03am Full agreement in regards to what @jeff.brines is saying about FC/RC ratio for modern bikes. Luckily I can ride medium and small sizes, so the RCs can be pretty good as long as the FC isn't super crazy. A recent Transition Spire project:: Alloy frame (medium) with 27.5 rear wheel and +2 angle cups. 190mm fork, 180 rear travel with cascade link. HA 63, BB 342mm (in the high shock position), WB 1256mm. It's a bit over my preferred max FC/RC of 1.75 (around 1.8), but the front doesn't "feel" long. It still turns quite well. Maybe something to do...

9/21/2025 5:47pm IME a Copilot chatbot might do 80% of your task in 20% of your time, but you'll be then spending 200+% of your time figuring out where those 20% are and fixing them manually anyway.

9/20/2025 5:56pm Disagree. I do less maintenance on my electronic stuff than I ever did on mechanical. The stuff that does get maintained is present in both flavors (i.e. jockey wheel bearings). The time I spend annually removing batteries to put them on chargers & replacing them is measured in single digit minutes. I'm not saying that everyone SHOULD go wireless, I'm just saying the anti-battery crowd makes wireless systems out to be some overly complex thing when in reality they're not.

9/19/2025 12:30pm Conti trail casing is dogsh*t unfortunately. burp like crazy and both tires F/R had wobbles after a week of riding. Would not buy these again.

9/19/2025 12:30pm The problem with the trail casing is that it only comes in endurance (or whatever it's called) rubber which is rock hard and has no grip as far as I've seen. They really lock the best rubber behind the heaviest casings for some reason, super soft is basically DH only (technically not anymore, but in practice still), trail only comes in the useless endurance rubber.

9/18/2025 6:32pm I use the Wolftooth version of that mount. It carries a tube, CO2, plugs, and a tire lever. I've started using a pump from OneUp so the CO2 might get phased out.
