8/19/2024 5:07pm my guess is if yeti really wanted to go away from the switch-infinity link they would change to their already existing sixfinity system from the ebike and DH-proto. seems to work really well and doesn‘t need a fox branded part.

8/19/2024 5:07pm The cable ports have the same style to them, a bolt in plastic chip with a neck/stem to guide the cable out. The linkage hardware looks similar too. Dimensions are close. It has a flip chip which I think you cannot do with the switch infinity link if Im not mistaken. I also think its a Yeti because I could see them wanting to get away from the switch infinity linkage. My view is that if you want to make your bikes less expensive, getting sram/rockshox on oem is an advantage. But I could definitely see Rockshox not wanting to...

8/19/2024 5:04pm I saw them at park city a few weeks ago. One of the pivot owners. Must have been escaping the AZ heat. He said no plans to commercialize the carbon lugged mule, it’s just for prototyping (sad!). Apparently costs like 22k per frame or something crazy. Looks amazing in person. Had a 38 and an X2, no high pivot, had what looked like shortish chain stays and didn’t appear super slacked out, but tough to say for sure.

8/19/2024 5:03pm So we're all correct, it is a yeti/pivot/evil. Just a Chinese knock-off version. *this is a joke, I don't want another lewis v trickstuff argument.

8/19/2024 5:03pm Am I the only who thinks Scott is going backwards with the hidden shock? Sure it helps with a somewhat sleek look but it just seems like a pain to adjust a dial here or two…

8/19/2024 4:58pm You've got it wrong. This is Scott, if you remember. High/low speed compression and rebound will be easily accessible externally, via handlebar mounted, cable actuated remote.

8/19/2024 4:55pm Alternate ending: Rider shrugs and heads back up for more laps. Rather than endlessly fiddling with shock settings, they just get used to how the bike rides. They get faster, more confident, more faster, more confident. Lap times tumble, the confidence is there. Come finals the heavens open while they’re waiting to drop. Other riders scramble, calling Jordie asking for wet settings, stressing out. Our rider looks down at the frame, their fate sealed just as the shock below them. Shrugs. They couldn’t do anything even if they wanted to. They drop. The confidence. Bike and rider as one they...

8/19/2024 4:55pm i'd love to hear a podcast with an explanation behind every stupid solution they adopted on their bikes, especially with an interviewer that tries to talk some sense into them

8/19/2024 4:53pm The damper is pretty consistent. Damper fluid is designed to have consistent viscosity across a wide range of temperatures… that is the whole reason to have a special oil. Plus the fact that shim valves aren’t terribly sensitive to viscosity in the first place. I’ve run these experiments on a dyno FYI- small % changes at most. Air springs on the other hand gain noticeable pressure when hot. I’m always a bit skeptical when someone complains about their coil shock becoming a pogo stick due to heat. More than likely it’s you and your (weak, non-world cup) legs getting fatigued...

7/27/2024 6:34am It’s not just the cassette that’s magic. Insiders at both Shimano and Sram have explained it to me like this: There’s nothing timing the first movement of the derailleur except your thumb pressing the button. The first actual chain derailment might not happen immediately however because the cassettes have been designed to very strongly encourage the shift to occur only where the gates/ramps allow it. For subsequent shifts the system estimates how long it will take until the next gate/ramp lines up with the chain, and delays the shift until that time has elapsed so that the chain engages with...

7/27/2024 6:31am This statement has been made confusing by SRAM marketing, and isn't true: " A T-Type transmission or something similar will shift better than mechanical because it knows the precise time to shift to prevent damage and premature wear. " There is no timing, there's no sensor that knows the position of the cassette. The magic is in the cassette itself, which is designed more like an OG front dual chainring with ramps that only move the chain up when it hits those designed shift points. There are also narrow-wide elements on the largest cogs to retain the chain, presumably for...
