10/20/2024 10:47pm Really nice frame. Really like the chainstay length as most bikes of this style are shorter. I'd like to see a real weight though. My Epic 8 Evo with same fork and shock is 28lbs with lighter wheels and drivetrain but minus too much weight weenie optimization.

8/30/2024 3:38pm I have heard multiple rumors of it going to a flex pivot (just like seemingly every other recent XC bike release). Nothing on the record though.

858to253 Added a reply to Poll: Electric shifting vs mechanical shifting
7/29/2024 5:49pm This echos my thoughts pretty well. I ran AXS for a while, was never quite as perfect as I thought should be—which was probably my bad mechanic skills. I’d be interested in trying out Transmission, but I worry about destroying something on a MTB trip and being out of luck for remaining time of the trip. I love the fact...

7/29/2024 5:38pm I'm too much of a cheapskate when it comes to derailleurs. Yeah they've gotten tougher and I'm sure UDH helps, but one wrong move and your $400 AXS derailleur (retail) is smoked, where as an 11 speed XT derailleur is $110 retail, and I you can find them a heck of a lot cheaper than that. Cool that rebuild kits are available on the new T type, but still pricy though. I've bought slightly used XTs for $25, as well as a combo 11 speed GX shifter/derailleur for $50. I love the idea of one less cable and the consistent...

7/22/2024 5:46pm Guessing you're a transplant to the South?
These things are everywhere in college and pro ball. Not sure they are that applicable to most of our falls, but can't imagine they hurt anything. Regardless, good thing to share as I bet most people on here haven't seen them. If we're going to start adopting things from (american) football, I humbly request, on behalf of all southeastern US riders, that we give some consideration to sweatbands being cool. It's really hot and humid down here, and getting worse. Also, if the set up Loic has goes to production, we should...

7/8/2024 11:42am Presumably if you really want stick on cable guides to work you'd rough up your paint and then use an epoxy. They ain't going anywhere then! When I refinish my claymore I'm strongly considering plugging the internal routing holes with an Inanimate Carbon Rod and adding cable guides to the rear triangle to go fully external (instead of the stock half-assed external) while there's no paint on there.

7/2/2024 1:22pm All this leads me to believe they'll release an alloy budget version like they did with the Epic and Chisel full squish that works with cable drivetrains. Hopefully it's mullet compatible (not restricted to S1/S2) otherwise those are two massive misses compared to the Evo. Other option to fill the gap between new stumpy and enduro might be a revamped Status 160?

2/11/2024 10:12am Ive owned several Pivots and before I owned the bb press kit would install the bearings with a 2x4 and hammer then remove them with an 8mm allen. I guess where theres a will theres a way lol. Definitely not what they recommend but never had any kind of creaking. What they do recommend is blue loctite instead of grease in the bb which I think helps eliminate any possibility of creaking and keeps things sealed over time.

2/11/2024 10:12am As a mechanic at a Pivot shop (with several other great brands), I see very few of their bikes come in with the customer complaining about creaking, especially compared to other bikes. Their frame tolerances have something to do with it. Their BB interface shouldn't stop you from giving their bikes a try...

12/22/2023 9:18pm That spline has a lineage which I feel makes it the defacto standard. I think it goes back at least as far as the Magic Motorcycles cranks, so it became the CODA standard; FSA made Cannondale's cranks, and it was adopted Sram, Raceface and others, including me (https://www.digitbikes.com/concentric-bb). Here are the bones of my model:

12/16/2023 4:07pm I’ve been running a Bonty RSL one-piece bar for a couple of months now that I grabbed off Buy/Sell at PB. I like it a lot. Bar roll for me has as always been never been a big deal for me—I can tell when it’s way too forward or aft, but I doubt previous bars were always in the same...
