😀😃 That bike has about the same chance of weighing 28lbs 5oz with those 1300gr tires as Chris Froome chances of winning the TdF this year.

A physician on site would be helpful. Even though they would not have the diagnostic equipment like scanners and a lab, they could look at the contributing factors to the crash, the circumstances of the impact, as well as a quick assessment of the athlete, and be able to make a reasonably sound recommendation as to what to do next. Sure this is most definitely not a safe sport. But Amaury has a point. Why not clear B zones? All it takes is lifting what you can out of the way. The tracks are too fast. Not only is this...

I don't understand the idea that safety is an all-or-nothing deal. Small things add up. Making thoughtful efforts in the areas surrounding the track where a rider will likely end up in a crash seems like a reasonable ting to do, and won't affect the racing at all. Since crashing is inevitable when people are pushing the limits, doesn't it make sense to lessen consequences of a mistake when there is an easy solution? I also want to make a point about the onsite doctor. Having a full-time doctor with the World Cup that goes to all races and understands...

Except with the current level of tech in emtbs who ever is on the latest stuff has a huge advantage. It’s not comparable to motocross or dh where you have many factory teams working to stay at the pinnacle. It’s a second thought race series for everyone involved to market e bikes.

Yeah, as a former "pro" XC racer (- had a team and sponsorship contracts but wasn't ever fast or got noteworthy results) I think the whole EDR-E thing is pretty disgusting. It is a competition ( - I'm hesitant to even call it a sport) where the deciding factor is not your skill, power or endurance, but mainly who has the best equipment. Claiming that mountainbiking and e-biking are the same thing is literally like saying that it's the same wheter you hike up a mountain or take the gondola to the top. The whole e-bike "racing" thing is basically...

The Meta AM29 had a 495 reach compared to the 480 on the current one. Also the reason why I sold mine (for a bike with shorter reach and steeper hta), it was just too big.

Good call in, Jeff. n=1, I talked to my wife about this yesterday before I wrote the original post. For context: she's a casual rider, married a bike mechanic 21 years ago, is a certified Sex, Love, and Relationship coach with a focus on somatic therapy, who works with women of many different experiences and backgrounds. Oh, and she has a degree in marketing/communications, and spent a couple of decades working in that field. She felt that this ad was, at best, marginally off-putting. The fact that bike media has for so long put women into the status of décor...

Hey Losifer, couldn't agree more. Was surprised to check Vital this morning and see a wall of female butts in panties facing me. Like you said, if this was an ad selling women's panties to a website with a predominantly female audience, then sure, fair play. But that's clearly not the case here. The last Vital audience survey in 2022 said this audience is 96% male! I don't know how many times I've heard industry people ask how we can get more women into mountain biking and I'm pretty sure the answer is "Not like this." Selling products to dudes...
