Wtf did I just witness? 1st Whistler World Cup, craziest track on the circuit in craziest conditions, Lachies run, Lachies DQ, fan airlifted off track, APs run, Keifer’s run then use of one of his 9 lives, Max’s run, then ASA W by 4.3s. Gwin: “Get him out there!”

First world cup DH I’ve watched since free redbull left the chat. I’m not joking, just didn’t have the motivation to pay and/or do VPN stuff to watch free. Well I realized my very cool and dope mom has HBO max or whatever so I went over to watch it. Man what a good race to watch. Old guard vs new wave is super awesome, racing and track was sick, everything about it. I sure wish it was different (still redbull) but I might have to actually start trying to watch moving forward.
After watching world cups for years it was a total treat to get to whiteness it in person. Took the gondola up and walked down the course stopping to spectate any chance we could get. What a race, what a venue and what a crowd. Hearing the roar come down the mountain with each rider was something special.
Richie was the first to unlock the straight line down the bank (riders right) to avoid the flat soup. Almost looked like line spotters told the rest of the field it was possible. It was easily the ONE spot on track that carried crazy speed out of it. So noticeable that anyone straight lining it was over a second up from that point forward
Canadians are wonderfully NOT French. The finish line corral cordiality was welcome. If not for bone crushing French hooligans, the pros could all still run around in the finish corral, party with each other, hoist bikes for photos & shake hands/give hugs & spray the crowd. Irony of the corral being sanitized & being polar opposite of what that area once was for the riders themselves was glaring
Empty lift line - Proud to say I rode the park in 2015 this same week of September after a week of rain. The conditions were perfect. Weather was incredible. Had that massive place all to ourselves & it's the single best riding week of my life

All that sprint work in the offseason...you're supposed to use it on the flat sections. Saw a lot of people let a fire road decide their fate.
Lachie's off course excursion DQ was ironically for a line that was blocked for riders going right of the final tree. Lachie went around the left of the tree then 90 degreed around the pole on the right. Pole forced riders to go down to the berm, so if pole wasn't there, definitely faster. But only if you're on the right line
