Polygon team news, they've signed up gravity riders Tayte Proulx-Royds and Domi Ohaco: https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/polygon-signs-tayte-proulx-royds-and-domi-ohaco.
I'm a big fan of his. Round 2 of the Roundabout Epic or the TransMcDrive is something a brand should definitely support :D
Rumors are all done..but Max Alran has moved from Oakley to 100% goggles. Meaning he's the only rider on that team not on Oakley I think?
Bigger question is when are the Alran's getting energy drink helmets 😂. One green one blue and silver?
Has Remy Mayer-Smith announced retirement? IG profile has been deleted some time ago and I have not seen any word on him but have I missed something?
Other thing - who could be this Zerode rider to be announced soon for EDR?
And what could be new ride for Finnish enduro superstar Tarmo Ryynanen? He is teasing that announcement coming this Thu? Bike on the picture looks like Propain, but could it be him on this Zerode post with his old team mate Tristan Botteram (from Simplon Trailblazers) on this Zerode team? That could be a match as well.
Remy's IG profile is still up, you're just spelling his name wrong. I doubt he's retiring, I believe he left giant with a 1 year contract with pivot last year that would be extended if he did well and he didn't and got screwed because of it. Probably couldn't find a team this year as with a lot of other riders out there I guess, hopefully he manages to get something together to race this year.
From what little i've seen Remy and Luke seem to have almost the absolute opposite approach to the sport. I like em both and hope we get to see more from chicken Joe.
A recent Thredbo video mentioned chicken Joe as part of the build crew.
Minnaar at a press camp in Italy for what I suspect is the new 38.
But rumor wise. Strange to see he has changed to 5.10 shoes. But still in Fox kit. Pretty odd for your star legacy rider, team manager/mentor guy to be in a competitors clothing still even though Adidas are bank rolling the Norco team?
What's up with Minnaar's front rotor?
Re: him wearing Fox clothing. Adidas doesn't have riding clothing, yet.
Looks like XTR levers and some form of the Shimano Freezer rotor to me?
All I see is a huge stack of pallets... when's the bonfire????
Looks like the Bosch ABS system I think
The team are all in POC kit and helmets for race season it looks like. Just odd to see Minnaar still on a huge brand like fox when "his" time are now the main Adidas team.
I understand the practicalities of it all, it's just so odd for Adidas to dump so much cash to emmm, well...get what?
Well spotted. There's nothing on Norco's website so here it is on a Scott.
No retirement for Remy. His contract ran out and didn’t get picked up by another team. If he could find the right team he would be hooking
Mmh love me some unsprung mass😍
Also a nice match in ugliness to that scott 😅
+ there is the X2 Neo coming as well…
I can’t imagine this thread will be officially cooked until Tippie shows us his new bike, and it’s a slow morning at the bike shop, so I’ll share something very dull: I got an email from our Burgtec distributor this morning advertising the new Minnaar signature grip. I thought to myself ‘Doesn’t CAST make grips?’. Lo and behold, they ALSO have a Minnaar signature grip… that’s a grip double dip!
Cast only sponsored him for the left grip which left the door open for Burgtec to swoop and get him for the right one. Always read the fine print of your contract
At this rate is he going to sign with a middle grip sponsor?
Possibly?
Once he gets to grips with it and gets a handle on things?
But you never know what will come to hand for him during the process?
He seems a handy kinda rider, I'm sure he will get a firm grip on things.
Trojan?
Only if Norco is licensing frame designs from Mr Garrison for the 'It'
Greg Minnaar signature aero extensions coming soon.
Measuring the silverware in that pic it looks like Greg is running the new mega mullet MX. 32/29" combo or I need to get my new LensCrafters.
He didn't qualify for finals once last season. Add 4 or 5 juniors to this year who were all easily posting top 20 times as well and there's no chance he'd be picked up this year. Was a poor show..
I went for a ride this morning with Brett Rheeder and Brook MacDonald.
Brett's still rocking & pimping the Commencal and seems to be in a pretty happy place, lol he wasn't very pedal fit though!|
Brooks rocking the RB helmet but everything else in his kit was unbranded still, and riding that same brown Santa Cruz.... Guess he still doesn't have a team/sponsor yet.
Yeti no longer on Maxxis?
Yup, tyler waite posted a clip back in december with schwalbe tires on. Also posted a picture of his bike on the lift with them. Ryan Gilchrist mentioned richie was running them in a moi moi video as well. The rest of yeti fox's riders are also on schwalbe.
Fun fact. As far as I remember Yeti was the first major DH/Gravity team to run Schwalbe tires. Maybe around 2012. When Graves was racing 4x.
Current iteration of Yeti team is strange though. For Richie especially. He has big DH goals I imagine, but no team training camps like the big teams and doesn't seem to be much of a performance focus. Tyler Waite got injured earlier in the year and we heard nothing about it. All seems a bit low key really 🤔
