Duprela was never suspended was he? I know he got dropped by the team right after signing but wasn’t he back as privater immediately?

Not sure if there ever was an investigation in his case.  If so they never made a statement on it.  Always a tough arena as it’s very hard to prove and usually a traumatic process for the victim.  But if it was ignored all together that would be quite the scandal.

He got dropped by two teams.  Commencal and cllctv.  Seemed like canyon signed him unaware or ignoring any rumors then when they dropped him is when the rumors went came to light for the greater public.

I know nothing more than anyone else and a lot less than plenty.  But in my experience in the rare instances a woman is crying wolf it usually comes to light very quickly.  And unfortunately just being good at something is often a free pass for men.

I'm not sure he does get ignored unless there is a result. This is all feeling and I haven't gone back to check but it felt like for the first part of last year he was ignored, not on Wyn TV , not mentioned on post race podcasts , not on photo reports .

Then this year it seemed it was easier for everyone to just not mention it and slowly bring him back into the fold in terms of coverage . And yeah I get that if he gets a top 5 they can't really ignore him but it leaves me feeling uncomfortable every time he's on screen .

The flip side of that is I have no idea if he's innocent or guilty of anything and I get that it's not easy to  report stuff without fear of legal action , it's just that if you ignore this stuff I don't think it helps anyone .

Well I can think of 10 people, 2 bike brands, and the network of supporters behind them who’d want to share that image.  Besides the actual race with coverage is at the end of the week.  It will have double the views of anything on wbds YouTube channel now that they have removed juniors.  And the winning run will likely have views in the millions as opposed to the views under 200k.  There is also the Garbo and air Dh as smaller podium opportunities.  Tons of vlog opportunities.  And the entire week is probably the most attended mtb event in the world.

So yeah to imply that the wbd is somehow doing a better job of representing our extremely niche sport is pretty laughable.  As jordi said in a recent interview how many of these views wbd talks about is just a tv on in the background of a bar or airport if they even exist.  Versus the massive loss of interest by actual cyclist and action sports fans.  And being completely insignificant on the most important platform in the world with by far the most viewership and by far the best algorithm for supplying people things they might be interested in.

Millie seems to have struggled a bit with the switch to intense.  New team.  Lots of parts changes.  But she’s been pretty on it recently.  Wouldn’t be shocked if this direction continues for her to get more podiums and a possible win in the second swing of the world cups.

Man i really love the current intense team.  Bunch of underdogs just crushing the game and having their best seasons ever.  Hoping other riders and sponsors are also taking notice!

I know you’re passionate about YouTube and all, but last years 1199 received approx 530k views, not the millions you state.
you don’t need to instantly compare everything to WBD, it can just be a good event, and a good example.. some positivity is good for the sport.

And one minor note - let’s not all pretend we haven’t walked into a bar and randomly seen red bull tv on in the background, it’s strange to imply those views are relevant for redbull if they aren’t for WBD

Full statement from the UCI regarding the suspension of Edgar Carballo Gonzalez for alleged sexual harassment, followed by a statement from Mondraker:

-----------------------------------------------------

The UCI Ethics Commission issues a decision concerning Mr Edgar Carballo Gonzalez

The Union Cycliste Internationale’s (UCI) Ethics Commission – a body acting independently of the International Federation’s administration – announces its decision in the case involving Mr Edgar Carballo Gonzalez, a Spanish downhill and enduro mountain bike rider.

The proceedings followed a complaint submitted by another rider via the UCI’s confidential reporting platform, UCI SpeakUp, reporting an incident of a sexual nature that occurred in her van, which was located in the official parking area of a UCI International Calendar event.

Based on the elements brought to its attention, the Commission concluded that Mr Carballo Gonzalez’s sexual and non-consensual actions (making sexual advances, with inappropriate physical contact and the use of the word “rape”, after having been told by the complainant that they would not have any sexual interaction because she had a boyfriend) violated her dignity and represented sexual harassment.

As a result, Mr Gonzalez was found to have committed breaches of Article 6.4 of the UCI Code of Ethics (Protection of physical and mental integrity) and Article 2.3 (Sexual harassment) of Appendix 1 of the Code, and was handed a one-year suspension from all cycling-related activities.

The UCI takes note of the decision of the Ethics Commission (which remains subject to appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport - CAS) and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of cycling and ensuring a safe environment for all.

In line with this objective, the UCI issues a reminder that it provides a confidential and secure reporting platform, UCI SpeakUp, where individuals are encouraged to report any safeguarding concerns.

------------------------------------------

Statement from Mondraker:

STATEMENT ON UCI FINDINGS RELATED TO MR. EDGAR CARBALLO GONZALEZ

Monday August 11, 2025 This afternoon, we have learned of a UCI decision involving Mr. Edgar Carballo Gonzalez, a Spanish downhill and enduro mountain bike rider who has been featured as an ambassador of Mondraker Bicycle Company.

We fully respect the UCI’s process and conclusion. As a result of the UCI’s findings, we hereby suspend our relationship with Edgar Carballo Gonzalez effective immediately. Pending subsequent investigations or findings, further action may be taken as necessary to resolve this matter.

We believe in protecting the integrity of cycling and ensuring that every rider can enjoy cycling in a safe and welcoming environment. There is no place in sport or life for harassment. We appreciate the UCI’s work to support riders and want to share their reminder that it provides a confidential and secure reporting platform, UCI SpeakUp, where individuals are encouraged to report concerns regarding their safety or treatment.

I’m glad the the UCI have spent the time and effort to investigate this and make their judgement. I’ve notice on IG, FB and PB there are a lot of guys getting upset about this and I feel that this says a lot about them. This has been an investigation that’s taken months since the accusation and they’ve kept his name out of the media until now. So it shows that they were taking it seriously.

Hopefully the replies on here will be better than on the others.

Looks like the stretch of good weather at Crankworx is coming to end. Solid bout of rain for the 1199 race, highly doubt Joyride will go ahead on Saturday.

And one minor note - let’s not all pretend we haven’t walked into a bar and randomly seen red bull tv on in the background, it’s strange to imply those views are relevant for redbull if they aren’t for WBD

well red bull has never publically displayed the red bull tv stats.  I know they give it out to riders including on screen time for sponsor reasons.  But they never felt the need to try to inflate their value thru a press release.  As their value to the sport has always been undeniable.

I admit I assumed the winning run was on the red bull bike channel versus the crankworks channel and was mistaken.  And used the difference between hardline views and winning run views on the red bull bike channel as my reference.  700k race views - 3.9 million winning run views.  One would assume just under 500k would equate to millions.  But being on the crankworks channel it won't get the same views.

I stayed positive for the first few years of eso in general.  I thought semi finals on youtube and a paid finals was a pretty reasonable compromise of providing content and asking diehard fans to pay.  Provided more content for me and very similar content to redbull for free that I think would've expanded over time.  But that was quickly nixxed because wbd decided it wasn't worth the investment.  q2 while exciting gets abysmal views and doesn't even happen every round.  q1 gets zero coverage.  Juniors was moved off youtube and assuredly is getting less views.  I think the time for positivity is kind of over.  And I would really hate in 4 years if the sport has to kind of start over from scratch and is well behind where it was yet alone where it could've been.  Just because some guy who turned his own race series from something exciting to something few people watch about was able to convince a corporation and the uci he knew better then everyone else what the sports of DH and XC needed.

Extremely positive about what's going in PDS and IXS.  Loving that red bull instead of being salty has just invested that world cup money into crankworks, hardline, and other things.  It's just sad that ESO/WBD's most positive impact on the sport is making more opportunity for new players outside the WC scene.  But of course that's just coming at the expense of the world cup scene.

Is it much to ask for a good amount of rain for the rest of the month 😂

I felt the same way.  It was almost like we need to speak up against this no conviction but I was suspended not because I might sexual harass someone and I don’t want my life to be that effected but say it about victims lying about what happened.

Does anyone have any inside info on the revised 1199 schedule?  Looks like Group B training and racing today.  No Group A training at all today?

Group B racing today. As of last night group A hadn't heard which day they would be going this weekend and if they would be doing seeding runs and a race or just practice then race.

If I had to guess I would say dh goes Saturday. Sunday is minimal rain so that would be the better day for Joyride. Gives the slope style course an extra day to dry and be worked on.

That looks like a proper DH course (not that I'm completely qualified to say so, but based on my 15 yrs of watching World Cup DH...Smile

This one's gonna be Jackson's to win.  Pretty much 5 seconds of motorway at the end, otherwise, holding speed and rock gardens.  Both things he's miles ahead of everyone else on right now.

Should be fun to watch!

Any race on the planet is JGoldstone’s to win. And this one’s on the dirt that raised him? He’s probably sleeping in his childhood bed? (He doesn’t appear to sleep but whatever)

Can we bet on mtb? Dude’s a lock!

5lbs of lead weights say "any" race isn't going to favor him.

Can we talk about this sport becoming ski racing with almost no pedaling, skinsuits, tucking & the fact that FIM would never let you strap 5lbs of weights to your ass & hit the slope?
