Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Holy Shit. They found Nessie?
New link configuration on Demo, links are not exposed as much as before, they are no longer below BB.

frameworks in the wind tunnel!
And the seat tube is bent and way too short to fit a dropper.
Oh goodness, here I go derailing the thread.... I run centerlines on saints on the DH bike. I find Shimano RT86s and up in the icetech lineup eventually go through enough heat-cool cycles on full DH laps that they become warped to the point they can no longer be trued ages before they wear out. You can get the icetech rotor OK in the stand again but as soon as you heat that sucker up again, it's back to warp-ville.
While its likely this is a parts bin build there's nothing wrong with mixing and matching brands unless someone is paying you to rep that brand specifically. Besides, on lower spec stuff, it isn't that odd to see brands put some random non-Shamano rotor on their bikes.
On the topic of the new TR11, at least this one comes with and hopefully is designed around a proper shock out of the gate. Say whatever you want about updated/not updated geometry and spec, but if they messed with the kinematics enough to suit the shock on there (and aren't just heavily relying on HBO....), it should signal the intentions of this bike right away whereas the last one was like a flag to the world that they knew they didn't make a proper race bike when they specced the float x from factory.
FW is really the little team that could. It's pretty amazing the access to the good stuff that they get.
The new TR11 leverage curve is basically the same. It’s still extremely progressive.
The Float X was an odd choice, but at the time, the other Fox air shock was failing if you looked at it funny. Although I don’t know why they wouldn’t have just gone with a coil shock.
Maybe the Float X is an underrated shock. I’ve heard from a lot of people that you can actually get it to perform really well with the right tune.
My Float X lasted a whole 2 days before it was blown up and leaking. Also shipped with more volume spacers than the manual suggested it could fit, which was perplexing. I switched it out for a DHX2 and haven't looked back. I don't believe the new frame is different at all from the last, besides paint colors. My 'previous' raw TR11 has the chain stay adjustment and headset cups as well.
The amount of racing technology and knowledge located in North Carolina is pretty unmatched in the country and even the world. There are a few full size wind tunnels around Charlotte, what I was surprised by was the amount of cycling stuff already on the wall there, it looks like every helmet brand with different models and a bunch of different road kits.
After the most recent NASCAR chassis changes wind tunnel time has been really limited for the teams so there is excess capacity in the facilities and I believe prices have come down so it is more reasonable for people to fund fun projects like this.

It also has 41% progression and short chain stays for l and XL. It was a fumble
The reason is because it doesn’t fit. No dh air shock fits in the small or medium. Cost cutting for sure too. That shock is horrible for dh and had issues as well. Althonless wide spread. L and XL can run anything. This bike looks to mimic the “factory team” build they had last year racing so they used coils.
Yeah its pretty odd to design a bike that doesn't fit one of the most popular shocks on the market? The Float X is OK and yeah has more tuneability than a lot of alternatives but it wouldn't be my first choice for a DH shock
41%!? Holy no bottom out cow batman. Its a different convex type curve (as opposed to the concave or linear progression stuff I'm used to riding). As close as it gets to linear off the top then starts diving down hard. http://www.avalanchedownhillracing.com/Bike%20set%20ups/2022%20TR11%20V3%20Alloy.htm
Those starting and ending leverage ratio numbers don’t match the numbers Transition published for the bike. The Transition numbers give you more like 33%.
Still looking for a bike with 69% progression and 420mm stays.
Noticed that Fanatik currently has pricing on the new range of Forbidden e-bikes ranging between $9k and $11,899.00.
I think Transition only recently published the numbers and the graph with the refresh. I remember looking for this info back when the TR-11 came out and was surprised it wasn't available directly from them like for their other bikes.
Maybe. The numbers on the avy site are for the 2022 model. It might have changed since then.
Transition have always had the numbers up AFAIK. Mine is a 2022.
this press release i just received seemed pretty tech but maybe it belongs in the geometry thread. i'll start here...
The procumbent flying position, a new riding position invented by Martoni CEO, Marty Williams, is a posture that combines ergonomic riding with speed. On a procumbent bike, there is no saddle; riders step on to the pedals, rest their hips against a cushioned hip support, and lean forwards to grip the handlebars. This position allows ideal body weight distribution over the whole of the bike, promoting comfort, improved control, and a more enjoyable riding experience.

my brother in christ what are they doing
needs this but gently caressing your ballsack from the front
Can it wheelie? It looks like it can.
It may work on bike paths, it may be comfortable but we’re still going to have to have them send in their man badge…. 🤣
All I can think about is what's gonna happen to his face/head/neck the first time he runs into a curb/obstacle and javelins into the ground...
I'm still hanging out for an electric sideways bike.
I didn't think I'd ever say this but here goes, they should probably do headset cable routing.
Far be it from me to suggest a new thread to the person who suggests new threads, but I’d personally love to see some of the bizarro crap that ends up in front of your eyeballs, Spomer. ‘Uncle gordo’s Inbox’, perhaps?
*edit to correct Gordon to gordo
Ti Lever/Piccola HD. TrickStuff is now being launched into the North American market. DT has been servicing brakes in the US for some time now. TrickStuff will be sort of slow roll entering the US through key retailers/online retailers and expanding from there. BTI will have parts like pads and rotors.
