My LBS says two ebikes will be released from transition this year, one gen5 cx and one sx.  No details on travel or geometry though.

Really hope they both have the ability to be ridden without the battery like the Relay. Not a matter of if, but when your bike won't turn on at the trailhead, even with a Bosch motor. (especially with the Fazua on the Relay!) The ability to not have my day ruined by electrical issues + knowing Transition with their great customer service will make it right solves my trust issues with eebs.

The "sentinel" e-bike looked pretty well finished from what we've already seen. I assume some publications have probably had test bikes for a little bit already. Not sure if there's any Bosch bikes out there that have easily removable batteries? I'd bet we'll see them released around sea otter, if not, probably right before summer.

Crestline batteries are easily removable.

One of the many reasons I bought a crestline.  Battery is simplistic enough to remove but robust enough where you are not concerned about a "cover" falling off like the relay.

They do not. Heard the cx is very underwhelming as well.

Slow rumors day today. Some strange new poc lids just took top spot and 3rd over at Virginia techs helmet ratings. Cularis would be the mtb one seems some sites jumped the gun just before the weekend.

Well, we can't talk about e-bikes in this thread.

But there is a Sentinel with the Bosch SX coming out next month.

Looks kind of boring/generic, but maybe it doesn't have to be fancy? I wouldn't spend $240 on it, but that's just me.

It's great that there's competition at the top of the safety charts.  POC shells haven't fit my head shape whenever I've tried them on in the past, but Fox does.  I'm sure the opposite applies to other people, so competition means more good options for people.

Somebody frame this comment and put it up in your bike shop......

Helmet that appears to be "top spot" in laboratory safety tests not worth $240 cause it doesn't look fancy enough....feckin' wild!

https://www.pinkbike.com/news/first-ride-bikeyoke-releases-barmate-handlebars-promotes-new-geometry-concept-for-bars.html

I'm sure Vital will have a news story sooner or later too, for now PB will have to do.

Anywho, finally some proper bar dimensioning being put forward. Dealing with the topic, I think it's essential as current values tell nothing meaningful (qed, a bar 55 mm high from clamp to grips comes out to essentially 35 mm rise in the real world). If you look at Renthal's fatbars, MTB versions have the same vague dimensioning problem but on the moto side EVERYTHING is laid out in detail. You can exactly see where your grips will be in relation to the clamps from the schematic. Considering how much talk is thrown around reach (and stack) values and changing stem lengths, mentioning the setback when it comes to handlebars is step number the one. Step two should be the actual height of the grips (hands) versus clamping axis.

The Renthal site was really helpful when I was trying to find a new bar for my dirt bike. Kinda crazy they don't do the same thing for MTB.

Micheal Jackson actually wrote man in the mirror about bar stack vs rise.

Won’t let me post a pic but I guess sram are releasing the colourway that’s been spotted on the motive brakes. $980 CAD for the set and I would assume it’ll be the same package deals as the maven ultimates that were released a while back: https://www.facebook.com/share/1BSMoLS8Em/?mibextid=79PoIi

Wow.  Am totally guessing a version from 'This Is It'  But if it's not, you really do not need to correct things...

It's not about me not valuing my safety, but rather about the cost of stuff. So many helmets that go on sale on a regular basis, there's no way I'm spending $240 on any helmet (maybe a full face?). When I find something that fits properly, I'll wait until it goes on sale. For example, POC has 40-50% off sales on a regular basis. Why would I pay full price?

The cost of many helmets has become quite high, looking at the new Forefront 3 and Fox Speedframe RS (both over $300 CAD). My biggest qualm with new helmets is the lack of a built-in spot to mount a helmet light. I have the Forefront 2 that needs replacing, but I am struggling to find something with this feature. I love the look of the new non-RS Fox Speedframe (and its safety rating), but I emailed asking if they made an in-house light mount, and they directed me to a Blackburn gift guide. At least most new helmets come with a glasses storage solution, which I can get behind.

I do wonder about the difference in safety between the independently conducted Virginia tests versus taking Smith's word. I think it was mentioned a couple of pages back that you only need to send in 5 helmets to get them tested?

I've noticed the same thing. The last helmet I had with a dedicated light/camera mount was a Bell Sixer, and that's been several years. On my last couple helmets, I put a GoPro mount on the under side of the visor for an Outbound Hangover light. It's compact enough that it doesn't impair my vision and light enough that it doesn't pull the helmet or visor down.

Lever looks used. My guess is a pros take off? Red limited edition was less $ for more, I'm hoping SRAM sells the same too.

They might do a limited run but in Vancouver Canada anything with a bit of flare seems to go way over priced thanks to scalpers.. someone had Jackson goldstone sign their bike (stock nomad) and are trying to get $15,000 CAD for it.. I couldn’t see sram charging more for this kit than the other ultimate mavens Ltd they released

What do you guys mean by light mount? Having a gopro mount is enough for me in that regard, but I did print a ton of adapters to adapt various lights to gopro mounts...
