The whole XC scene is going crazy for next season, basically every rider is signing a contract, be that for a same team or a new one, source is a team manager in a Finnish podcast. He didn't spill all the good stuff but seemed like Nino is the only safe bet who stays on a same team. He also said that two new bike brands are coming to XC with factory/elite status, brands that are not big and "no one has heard of".

one is the French brand Origine, Marotte will be the team manager of their new XCO team. the other brand I have no idea. Nino will stay at Scott obvs, and Kate Courtney will stay too. they'll sign Bjorn Riley

a lot of the shake-up on the XC side is because its a post-olympics year.  nino isn't moving since its his last season.

I can confirm that Reece Wilson will join Gamux next year. There Will be a lot of changes for that team

But when heather Wilson wins a junior World Cup on the gamux will she take the 100k?

I'm pretty sure the fine print was for an elite win. Otherwise Neko would zip tie a gearbox onto asa's bike and split it with him lol

Do you know if Gamux will remain on Manitou suspension?

Are Gamux and Zerode running WC teams next year given WB/UCI's shitfuckery?

Most of the road racing transfers have been announced, as they can from August 1st; so why does it take the MTB world so long to announce transfers? It's bizarre, and has to be said, backward.....

So much of the MTB world needs to get its sh1t together; it's 2024, not 2004 anymore.

yes, same here, I think it's stupid not to come out with news. same as with sponsors/partners

but then I think about who's planning to buy a new bike/helmet/stuff because they saw riders/teams use it this season. I think brands, some brands, prefer to wait until last minute to announce changes, so that customers/buyers still buy the products they saw teams/riders use.

Because unlike road cycling, historical there's no rider movement in MTB during the "transfer window". New teams are not finalised until January 15th each year. Therefore most riders contracts (along with marketing commitments) run until Dec 31st or even first week of Jan. So there's your answer

"Firstly for teams, the 2026 registration for World Series team status will move from the end of January to November 15 the previous year. Instead of taking the ranking points of riders at the start of the race season, for 2026, the UCI will decide the eligible team for World Series status using the rankings of riders on the last Tuesday of October (in 2025)."

It's coming.

After listening to Vojo mag: lunch time podcast with Alex Rudeau (in French), it appears the first ever enduro world champion is going into 2025 without team support, on his own program. He’s also not planning to race all World Cup races.

He tells that most of the edr racers are on same as he is, except a few big names, like Jesse Melamed, that are keeping some team support but at a way smaller scale. And others, like Martin Maes, are turning full downhill.

An other point thing discussed is that some top enduro racers are coordinating to pack in races like Andes-Pacifico or trans Madeira to bring back world level racing and attention to those epic events.

that frame is borrowed from trek factory racing, they wouldn‘t ride enve wheels and non-sharpied maxxis tires.

but rumor is that he will be on TFR in 2025… but that pic‘s not a confirmation.

Considering the sad state of enduro, downhill seems like the only reasonable choice...

They'll be doing downhill, I'd imagine. Richie seems capable and motivated. He'll do well enough.

Send Slawomir to all the stage races, Megavalanches, some EDRs, all the US stuff like Leadville or Downieville or Maah Daah Hey 100 (little shout out for a cool race up here in North Dakota) and all the wild stuff he's willing to do. He'll do great and get to advertise the entire Yeti line. Hire a filmer/editor to follow him around (super bonus for being a decent bike mechanic, too) and he's now a very loud part of the Yeti marketing arm. Hire a social media strategist that collects all the footage from Slawomir, Richie, et al and build a schedule of consistent, high-quality videos for YouTube and Instagram. I think Greg Callahan showed what's possible this year as a single-racer team and BK/MoiMoiTV/Ed Bull Media House/Chaz Murray/Syd&Mackay show that there's an appetite for the content if done well ("well" being defined as "captivating" which means different things from different teams/personalities - I think Yeti being ultra-premium and kind of buttoned up might need to go for "polished" as opposed to BK's "run-n-gun-n-upload" or Ed Bull's "shit-talker and fun-haver extraordinaire" style).

...at least that's how I'd be thinking about it if I were a bike brand looking at next year's Enduro (and other races) schedule and trying to find a way to reach consumers of the largest bike-buying segments with the existing (non-existent) coverage at races. Want to create brand interest and loyalty from people who are motivated to spend money with your bike company? Invite people to hang out and be best friends with the people doing all the racing and most interesting riding.

Taylor Swift's manager early in her career asked her what her goals were. "I want to sell 500,000 records." He replied with "well then you need to make 500,000 friends." Of course, this is different...but I don't see it as THAT different. Humans want and seek connection. Humans with mtb budgets (meaning they can be choosy about who/where/when they spend) spend their money with the brands/ideas they feel connected to/emotionally invested in.

They just get an XC race bike on the market, my guess will be that an XCO team will race on Yeti bike. Maybe it will not be a full factory team.

I kinda have a hard time seeing yeti going back to a full scale xco team (even though I know they sponsor xc athletes and such in the US). Something like the lifetime gp seems more fitting

What brand does the "ride aligned" suspension thing, isn't that Norco?

Maybe she stays. Two elite women means more team points.

10/27/2024 1:53am

Without Marine, Scott factory team won't have near enough points to be among the top 15 in the team ranking.

Unless they sign a high-ranking elite male?

I wasn't aware there had been an announcement of all teams and their sponsors for 2025. I thought this was a guessing game, but obviously it's an "I know something you don't" game.
