2024 TEAM RUMORS

10/30/2023 3:21pm

I wonder why norco dropped kitner and atkinson….

man Norco just kinda blows in my opinion. Never had a good Norco experience. Rude reps at vendor expos. Bad service from a bike shop employee stance.

I could say the same for Atkinson. It’s really interesting the two dueschy lame brands couldn’t stay together.

together they were a giant pile of washed up 💩.

Rough.

Bryn and Jill always made time for me and I never wrote them checks. I know Bryn was a bit aggro when he was younger (very Kovarik-esque) and it took a lot to tame him, but he always seemed like a nice guy. Not Mik Hannah nice, but nice nonetheless.

Honestly, I can easily say the same thing about Spez reps and employees at Spez shops, and I worked for them. Sheesh. worst experience, ever. but I digress.

There’s more enduro riders without rides than there is rides available 😬

Any confirmation of the nukeproof teams going? Both wiggle and CRC are in administration so there can’t be any spare funds for race teams

I'd take everything on that other site with a grain of salt. They seem to work on at least a week of delay maybe more. Danny said that quote quite a while ago now. I seem to remember reading it at least two weeks ago somewhere else.

Wonder if the Nukeproof SRAM team will just swap frame sponsor - I imagine the other companies will still be on board

That's quite some negativity towards people who have most likely never harmed you in any way. How do you decide what's ”washed up” an what not? And, please excuse me, who are you to decide?

I have met Jill and Bryn at times. They have always been nice, every single time. I can't wish them anything but the best. And I actually have the same thoughts towards anybody who tries to make a life from riding and racing. These are the people that we look up to, riding-wise, and many times are involved in the development of the bikes we ride. So I think we should be a tad more respectful. I mean, it's about common decency first and foremost.

It will be interesting to see if the economic hardships also have an effect on the pits. I'd guess we'll see a reduction in the amount of line coaches, trainers, chefs, and masseurs.

Well, her contract running through year end I'd say. And the woman is an absolute professional, so she'd be the kind to fulfill her obligations.

Just because a company can't afford you next year, doesn't mean you spite them in your last 2 months on the job.

As for NukeProof, from what a buddy told me, the retail guys out west have taken their leave of the company.
The shop in VA that picked them up is blowing all NukeProof completes out at 50% off.

So yeah, weird that the US version of NukeProof, the bike brand, seems to be closing up but the copycat site with some BAD, OLD intel about a few riders already signed for next year posting that Nigel Page quote is confusing.

After all, the copycat site is reviewing products out of production. Laughing

To be fair this was immediately underneath the quote from Pagey.

**Editor's Note: this quote came from before the public revelations of financial woes at Nukeproof's parent company Signa. We've followed up with the team but were told that nothing can be said at this time.

Dylan Stark off of e13 effective immediately:

"As of today I am no longer riding for @ethirteencomponents. Super bummed to get the news from them, due to budget cuts I have been let go. E*Thirteen was my first components sponsor for MTB and have had my back since 2020. I have nothing but great things to say about everything they make and I trusted them with my life. Thank you for the years of support @ethirteencomponents and everything you’ve done to help me."

e13 cutting back could be a reason why Gwin was in Canada recently (as reported in this thread). Pure guess but makes sense if he needed to line up another component deal.

No knowledge of this, but I have suspicion that the Gwin SRAM/ Rockshox rumor is true. Watching Fox Dialed this year it seemed like Jordi always completely overlooked how Dak was doing this year which I found odd at the time. Might make more sense now.

Or, as someone mentioned earlier, is he up there visiting Race Face? I know Gwin is a money maker, but Fox has been a day one sponsor and I just couldn’t see that relationship ending. With E13 cutting back is Fox just doubling down and providing the finishing kit for their bikes now?

Hard to know, Nukeproof were far more involved in that team than just a "frame sponsor"

Jordie having "less" to do with Dak has more to do with how involved a rider's mechanic is in the tuning process.

There are entire teams sponsored by Fox that you barely ever see talking with Jordie because they work on that stuff with their teammates and/or mechanics/staff.

The telemetry equipment on forks/shocks isn't usually branded "FOX" on it.

I'm willing to bet most racers are listing instagram/tiktok followers on their race resume. I'm also willing to bet these two attributes have about equal weight with potential sponsors. If I were a media savvy racer I would be spending a lot of time talking to Jordie simply for the exposure on Dialed.

I can't imagine that I was the first to connect these dots.

Fox owns Race Face. Don't know what that means.  But Gwin, for better or for worse takes care of Gwins family first, and everything else second. That's not necessarily a bad thing.  Loyalty from rider to team, shouldn't be more than team to rider...........and team to rider loyalty has been pathetic, and will only get worse.

Odd take. Forget to eat your Timbits for brekky and a bit hangry? Examples of how has team to rider loyalty with IFR been pathetic?

The power of social media is truly unbelievable. One example josh lewis from 50/01 wasn't the faster racer back in the day but since 50/01 and jibbing started happening, it's impossible to not see a kid in a giro helmet 50/01 kit on a cannondale or santa cruz 50/10 doing crank flips all over the UK.

Seths bikes hacks has more followers then gwin so in theory could sell more bike's.

Lewis buchannan same again.

Its a buisness first. At the head of the uisnes is a person keeping their family together. Nothing pathetic about it.  We are all trying to do the same thing, we all make decisions/take opportunities that put us where we are. Head of the team r rider of the team. It's not a matter of one is pathetic and one is not, its not a matter of loyalty or not. It's buisness.   Riders need to win to eat. Team bosses need to win to eat. Bike company owners need to sell bikes/win to eat.

Oh I'm aware of FSA, the key was in the word our, as in who this our is, not the roster itself. But thanks nevertheless Smile
