Isn't Asa signed to Neko's Team?
Dak's contract is up at Intense I believe, maybe he would move to YT? or Trek, if Kade stops racing Downhill.
Or with the M1 going into production, the problems that have frustrated Dak will go away, and he'll stay on a program that is proven the last few rounds to get him podiums.
Dak bailed from YT to Intense already...
He didn't bail from YT, YT cut the racing program loose leaving dak out to hang, he barely got in Intense as they already had a full program going.
Dak was quite vocal on the last Inside Line podcast about his financial status riding for Intense.
Unless his contract terms improve substantially he'll get poached by another team for sure.
He’s also said that if he stays up front and can win, he’d be paid handsomely. Did Neko lose Asa? Where is Pinky going? Is he ok, sounds like he was sent to the hospital after a practice crash.
Dak pickep up by Yeti… heard it hear 👂🙌
That would be so awesome if it's true!!!
He also said that before his result at Loudenvielle he was going to sell all his mx bikes and possibly the sprinter.
Having to rely on bonus payments is not a good place to be.
I ran into some of the Yeti camp on the hill in snowshoe. I asked if Richie was racing downhill next year. He said Yeti is going to follow what ever he wants to do. So i asked if that means they wont have one or other. They said they will have both a downhill and enduro team next year.
That’s not a good place at all but no matter what it provides motivation to step it up. There are only so many spots for riders to get paid properly. Hopefully, after this year his results allow him to go into one of those seats again. I also hope Luca can finally win one of these things and prove he really deserves one of these premier seats.
Yeti with a team of Richie and Dak would be pretty epic.
yeah, he said that also in a interview. I don't recall which one, too many vlogs
Exactly. It's as if I mentioned this before but was shot down by people wanting to believe that Gwin was helping out a fellow American.
Dak's contract is far from great, IFR had all the leverage because of his bad luck with the YT timing and they really took advantage of it. People may not want to believe it, but it's the truth. The guy deserves to be on a better program with better compensation.
On that note. It sucks to hear about teams potentially folding, but from my understanding, there are actually some new teams and money coming into the fold.
Please do tell me how IFR took advantage of Dak.
I don't know the facts of the contract. So enlighten us on how they "Took advantage of it." since you know so much.
That's a heavy accusation.
I know this is the internet, but multiple things can be true at the same time. Could Gwin have been wanting to help a fellow 'merican? yes. Could it have not been possible to sign him for more based on the teams budget mid way through the year? yes. Could Dak have deserved better compensation? Yes.
IFR could have "taken advantage" of the opportunity to sign Dak for less than they may have if the situation was different. "Taken advantage" does not have to be framed in the context of abusing a situation or person. It could just be that they were presented with an opportunity and executed on it. If you have a budget you're working off, adding a new rider mid-year is notable.
Dak could have been left without a team mid year so it's not like he didnt have anything to gain either. Only in the past year or so has Dak shown form to be a consistent podium threat. Prior to that he was more of a top 20 guy with occasional podium cracks.
Dak needed a ride at the last moment so IFR was able to take advantage of the scenario and pay him a minimum salary with bonus's for top performances knowing that they where the only offer on the table. Same thing happened to Jack Moir when Cannondale pulled the DH team after a letter of intent was signed, he needed to scramble and got a minimum salary at Canyon racing Enduro.
If Dak is talking of selling his MX bikes and Sprinter to pay the bills and Gwin is pulling 7 figures from the team there is a vast discrepancy within the IFR team.
Does Gwin have ownership in Intense and or Intense Factory Racing?
Gwin owns Intense Factory Racing and is rumored to have a percentage of ownership in the brand as well.
Something tells me gwin doesn’t make 7 figures without performance bonuses. We’ll never know where Dak is at without gwintense. But he’s in a pretty good position now in terms of results and has matured as a person to have a much better chance to be on the radar of the bigger teams.
6 years ago Gwin claimed to be making over a mill and that would have only risen now he owns and runs the IFR team and has shares in the brand.
Gwin is very smart with money (knows his worth and is driven to get it). He owns and manages the team so would be pulling a salary from that, the team sponsors are chosen by who pays top dollar to be involved rather than performance.
Even his move to Tennessee from Cali is financially incentivized. Out of all fifty United States, California is ranked 10th out of 50 for the highest total tax burden, while Tennessee is 49th.
Total Tax Burden
9.48% | California (10th highest out of 50)
5.74% | Tennessee (2nd lowest out of 50… only Alaska is lower)
Income taxes
3.78% | California (4th highest out of 50)
0.08% | Tennessee (43rd highest out of 50)
Sales taxes
3.06% | California (34th highest out of 50)
3.96% | Tennessee (14th highest out of 50)
Property taxes
2.64% | California (32nd highest out of 50)
1.70% | Tennessee (3rd lowest out of 50… only Oklahoma and Alabama are lower)
why buy a macmansion aka “the shitter with the view“ there then in the first place?
Invested in property. He purchased the land for 2014 for $215k built then sold for $4,600,000 in 2022. Not a bad 8 year investment.
$4,600,000 would get you a lot of land and home in Tennessee.
Bonus plus is that Tennessee fits Gwin's political leanings better than Cali.
I think his move was both spousaly and politicaly motivated. New location was riding based . I think the taxing was just the bonus.
Everyone on the paddock has had the schedule for a couple months.
NOPE!
I did a quick fact check.
Gwin is not majority owner of IFR.
Come on folks. We're not journalists on here. Don't "state" something as though it were fact.
It's ok to ask if that's the case or say "I thought I heard that was the case".
And all that political left/right stuff about Tennessee is so dramatic.
AG has stated multiple times that to go train on the bike or gym was taking too long in Cali & wasn't feasible any more.
Wife wanted to have ties back in Montana, so he cut losses in Cali, gave a good woman the place she wants & has a place in TN to ride bikes.
He & the missus also apparently bought a place here outside Hendersonville to turn into an AirBnB. That one's no secret. He announced it in a vlog during Nationals.
he just called himself the team owner on the broadcast.
he calls himself the team owner on Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/in/aarongwin1/
and the team press release calls him team owner -https://mbaction.com/the-intense-factory-racing-team-for-2022/
as for moving out of california he stated on the making up the numbers podcast that they were splitting time between Cali and Montana but they didn't believe in the way that Californian was going about covid so they moved to Montana. Winters there didn't work out for trying so they moved to tennessee. https://youtu.be/_KHC0KoJ4Z4?si=tB-gITccorq17ZEp&t=2517
Having much more knowledge on this subject than most everyone in this forum, I'll say that Aaron/IFR did not even remotely "take advantage" of Dak.
Truth can't be posted online. You know that.
Asa on Frameworks confirmed
Furthermore 5Dev stepping in as major sponsor
Everyone knows. It's as concrete as possible for this time of year. Always a chance a venue drops off and/or changes but that's typical. I've had the schedule since September 1st and team managers way before me but that's also typical, nothing new.
