Shimano Working on a New Saint Derailleur?

Edited Date/Time 10/19/2020 10:20am
We just got this shot straight from the Maribor World Cup, where Loris Vergier's Shimano-equipped Santa Cruz V10 was presented on the "Winning Bike" podium. Looks like a new Saint in the works to us!

That's great to see. The whole Saint line is long overdue for an update.

Is it? Seems like everything in that group set is still pretty top notch.

Same XTR brakes that you can buy on the market, nothing different.

with the exception of the pedals, the current saint grouppo has been on market for 8 years. its actually the longest a shimano grouppo has gone unchanged.

if they're working on a new drivetrain, they're working on new brakes. the only times i can think of that shimano hasn't revised the entire platform is when they introduce the di2 drivetrains. and the occasional pedal.

Saint is still really good by any standard. I'd expect an updated version to be really really good.

It is overdue. That said, not many groupsets have had the staying power and reliable, pro-level performance of Saint for as long as it has. Goes to show just how good it is.

The narrower chains are stronger due to the shorter pins.

I really hope Saint brakes don't go backwards like XT/XTR with the floating engagement point.
