Does this look like a fun bike or what? The new Enduro Expert EVO replaces the SX Trail in Specialized's 2013 lineup.

Out back, the super adjustable Cane Creek Double Barrel coil shock has been customized to fit Specialized's "wishbone" link. Travel has been increased to 180mm.

Slack angles and a burly Fox fork combine to keep it steady on the steeps.

It's also available in the base Enduro EVO model shown here, which features a toned-down build kit that's still plenty capable.

Some parts carry over from last year's model, while others get a big upgrade, including the Kashima-coated 180mm Fox 36 Van RC2 fork.

A SRAM Type 2 rear derailleur, Avid X0 Trail brakes, and dual ring Gamut guide round out the build nicely. Expect to see this rig on some crazy adventures under Specialized's riders.

They bumped up the travel from 160 to 180mm for the new year, making it even more capable of tackling any terrain, including rough DH courses. Sweet, another bike with a total pain in the ass shock mount. I bet it's like the SXT where you could literally only run one shock on it.

so it seems this frame is slightly different than the 160 enduro frame or am I stupid? 65 head tube vs 66.5. so they are not the same front triangle with only a different shock/ linkage... so I can't build a carbon frame to have 180 in the rear.
so why the same name, should have just kept the old name and called it "new".

The SXT started it's life as part of the Enduro family. This iteration is more of an all arounder (like the Enduro) than the very park or FR specific last gen SXT.

The rear linkage is different and the fork has more travel, therefore more travel and a slacker HT, the front triangle is identical to the enduro models since '11. My SX Trail has a front derailleur cuz it is steep where I live, it pedals everywhere! I think my '11 SX will be lighter as the frame isn't much heavier and I got a Float 180 RC2 instead of the VAN, 2.5 stick-e tires, reverb post, NO CARBON FIBER, 34.7 lbs!

nonsense to me to define this bike an "enduro"..Stumpjumper evo will be the one you'll see at enduro races

Agree with the first part. But the second? Unless you talk about races in US or UK, you might be well wrong. But Specialized as well: 160 mm with air shock is the key! in other word, the "standard" and well named Enduro!

The enduro model dates back more than a decade. Enduro racing has been popular in the US for a year or so. Obviously the name "enduro" has nothing to do with present day enduro racing.
