Commençal never made carbon bikes? Excuse me sir? I remember Rémy Absalon breaking his carbon Commençal right at the start of the Mégavalanche La Réunion. 10/14/2014 11:43am I guess the reason UCI "does not manage to coordinate with Crankworx Whistler" is that: 1. Whistler is not interested in hosting a WC/ doesn't wanna pay for that 2. UCI is certainly seeing Crankworx as a growing competition, co-organizing the EWS and now with 3 Crankworx events it could be the beginning of an alternative WC. I even guess...

"he is also planning to shift his focus towards Enduro" what's that bullshit story?!? Rémy's been having great success in DH marathon for sure but he's always been an enduro rider, locking bunch of victories and a few overall of the french series, including ahead of the now very well known Clementz...
As for his participation to the Mega this year i'm not sure. Isn't it the same week end than an EWS? If he's good at the overall I doubt he'll skip it

Sounds like Rémy started Enduro with the EWS! But he's been winning the overall of the French Series a couple of times, and a bunch of Enduro races!

I don't think that's the issue, as big brands already have their hands in the EWS. There's a board composed of riders and industry guys (I can only remember of a SRAM guy being in it but I think they are 3, just like the number of riders who are Moseley, Clementz and Keen). For me the problem is more the competition that may happen between UCI and EWS that will suck fr the riders as they will at some point have to decide which race series they ride. It's like it's been some years ago in the snowboarding world...

Safety is not the reason why the first run is not timed: french Enduro Seires has always been ridden blind for the first of 3 (or 4) runs on a same course. And we've never seen more crashes and injuries during the first run. Actually the opposite... As for Dan Atherton already saying even before the start of the first run he has no chances because the course is known from other riders (from previous seasons), I would say it's a pretty lame excuse. He could have raced in the french series last year but never did. why? The whole...

You're right saying it's a risky game they WOULD play (cause we'll never know the truth!). But who signed a contract with who? And who brought the more money in? I guess Gwin signed with TWR, so Trek. And Shimano has a contract with TWR (here also it's a guess!). Just the way I see it. And blaming some "old prototype" won't have the same impact on sales. Actually they would have claimed that one brake would have failed I would have bought it, despite the lame press release trying to minimize the importance of a world champ title. But...

Mmmmmm... real and official sound quite opposite thing to me! Not that I am a fan of the "plot theory", but it sounds more like they wanna hide something. Both brakes failing simultaneously, not being powerful enough for the rest of the run and NOTHING noticeable at post-race inspection? Sure a mechanical can always happen and that's unfortunate. But this one is particularly wierd... Gwin will get the stripes once, and probably more than once even. I think he deserves that. But that story about the brakes, I have a hard time believing that. Just my personal opinion though. And...
