Hello,
Thibault did well all weekend and made it to the semi-finals. However, very few media have talked about or with him. That begs the question, why is that? Is there any new information. Because if nothing is wrong then you should give your sponsors and him the media presence he needs to do his job. If there is something wrong then it should be dealt with because at least he is at the races, he is not isolated and does what he does very well.
He has some allegations of some pretty serious misconduct. Until that’s sorted I don’t think much media or sponsors will want to give him a platform.
He also threatened to sue anyone who talked badly about him in the situation.
Legal threats doesn't make for an environment that encourages coverage of a rider.
Maybe he avoided the media? only making the semi is the bigger news. he's a multiple winner and consistent Top15 rider
I imagine he and the media are mutually avoiding each other. They briefly discussed the situation on the Making Up the Numbers podcast, and George referenced having to run their discussion through legal channels before broadcasting it. I also imagine his legal counsel is telling him to avoid interviews as he will inevitably be asked about the situation, and he hasn’t done a great job, from a PR standpoint, with any of his statements that reference the issue… and those were written statements. Just imagine what could potentially go wrong if he goes live, talking in a second language off the cuff. There’s a reason people hire publicists and lawyers to communicate publicly for them when they’re facing legal issues.
wtf did he do?
Rumors of sexual assault allegations that have led to him parting ways with two teams and currently racing as a privateer. He maintains his innocence and says his name will be cleared. The accuser, to the best of my knowledge, has made no statements.
cool he does not get media attention.. but anyways I doubt he has the leverage/means to be suing people everywhere so to me thats a bluff,
Considering his skill and apparent improved Canyon dh bike he would have been a serious threat this season, hope things will sort out and we will once again see his all in riding style.
Could be awkward if/when he gets fastest privateer and Wyn has to give him 500 euro
He got a semi in the semis
I'm curious: what is he riding this season? Haven't seen any pics/vids of him.
IIRC he's on the Sender (he had an insta post about it but it's been deleted).
Actually took the time to go to IG and found it lol
Sender, RockShox, Mavens, DT wheels, Maxxis tires, TLD helmet, Renen kit, HT pedals

Interesting that Monster are still on board with him
He posted new threads today. I will just say some high-profile accounts liked the picture.
…if only name recognition had any correlation with morality.
Has there been any more information about the alleged assault? Has he been cleared or convicted or anything?
very likely un(related) ? but about an assault case in the WC paddocks, 2023...., fresh from the victim.. --> https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDJcIHuOvu6/?igsh=dGhnZXZhbXkwMjlp
„When we reached out to Masip, who was a contestant on Season 3 of Pinkbike Academy, she said she isn't naming her aggressor because her lawyers have advised her not to but that "he's a loved and respected person in the enduro world". She says that she has filed reports with both the UCI and Spanish police in October of 2024, but at this time, she says she's not sure if her aggressor will be charged or not.“
according to pinkbike. Sounds more like an enduro racer.
Yeah man, while I am a big proponent of the presumption of innocence (which I don't think is necessarily the case in all Euro countries), Masip's account on Pinkbike was pretty brutal, and doesn't really leave any room open for a claim of a "misunderstanding" or "poor communication" in a semi-consensual setting. Her account sounds more like there's a straight up rapist prowling around the Enduro pit areas at night (lock your windows, lock your doors), who is living a double life as a beloved member of the Enduro community by day. That is pretty wild, and seems particularly shocking given that our cool little niche community seems to be filled with pretty great people as a general rule, but it certainly wouldn't be the first time a public figure was leading a double life like that. We've got Diddy in the news now, the Brits had Jimmy Saville, etc...
Daprela was just announced to be on rogue racing, the italian dh team.
a little on the nose with the team name…
I think this is a problem with communities like mtb - everyone wants to think its a chill sport but because no-one wants to rock the boat and call people out, it creates an environment for predators who know they can get away with awful behaviour.
It's up to men to call it out, especially in this current society where women require a high standard of evidence in order to be believed. Sure, innocent until proven guilty is good and all, but people don't require the standard of evidence like a court to know someone's unpleasant to be around. We need better standards and to hold other men accountable for shit.
Long time wc photographer Dave Trumpore left this comment on pinkbike in relation to Daprella not being included in any photos. "if you punch someone in the face and don't get charged with assault that doesn't mean you didn't punch them in the face... and often times money buys silence ;-)" supporting the allegations and rumours of a payout/ threat of legal action to sites.
Is quite saddening to see allegations of such a nature be so easily brushed under the rug with money even in the small world of mtb.
Straight from pinkbikes state of the sport survey - I guess its only when there is less chance of repercussions that women feel OK to speak out? S
I'm all for karma catching up on those who deserve it.
Daves summary is spot on BTW.
lemon gets it.
" If you're innocent you don't typically pay off the victim and threatened publications with legal consequences if they report on anything."
They should cut to commercial during Daprela's run instead of riders like Antoine Rogge that actually deserve the coverage.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who breathed a sigh of relief when Troy crossed the line green last week when it seemed like the track was getting harder as the race progressed. And while i understand the perspective of no court ruling daprela is responsible means they can’t really stop him from racing. But basically eso has pretended that there are no fairly substantiated allegations from the beginning. And it seems as his results have improved closer to where they were more and more media groups seem to be willing to give him a spotlight without an asterisk.
I hope some people ask some of the top females of the sport and the other podium level male riders what they think in a veiled way so they can comment without commenting directly. Cause if eso is going to try to make a star out of a guy no western bike sponsor wants to touch as proof that their wildcard system works how are they building a package that’s going to bring outside sponsors to the sport. But hey as long as we apologize everytime someone says a curse word.
“Our apologies if this guy raped your daughter, please understand this is a live broadcast.”
