Will_Narayan Started a new thread Seat angle : How steep is too steep ?

Similar to the "how much reach is too much reach ?" thread, how steep is too steep ? I have a Honzo ESD with a 77.5° seat tube, which turns to about 79° at sag, and I really like it. Of course you're not gonna beat an endurance record with such a geometry but it's pretty great for going up...

I once thought about that but with a girder fork at the top, and regular fork lowers.. 100mm girder, 100mm regular fork, or different ratio, one tuned for small/quick bump, one for bigger bumps. Don't know what would be the result.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to chat Spomer. I’m so sorry for all you have gone through as well and I appreciate you being willing to share. I hope that people are able to come away from this with the understanding that we are all in the midst of such a complex situation and at the end of the day we should try to treat each other with compassion and understanding. Many of us have different life, political, and religious beliefs and that’s one of the things that makes the world so special. As long as we are able...

Wow. Didn't take long for a truly breathtaking level of stupidity to rear its ignorant head.

In the end yeah, it looks rather nice and "beasty". But I wonder, the "leverage effect" looks really "flat", I don't know how to say, pivots look almost aligned, isn't there a point where with a too big hit the axle will move up and pull rhe rocker instead of pushing it and shear the rear of the bike ?

I'm surprised by the comment about rubber seals acting as a spring. I once removed the pistons from a caliper and it didn't look like those seals had much possibility to "stretch" to act this way. I thought what brings the pistons back is the spring in the master cylinder sucking the fluid back up and consequently the pots coming as well.

Some people seem to think that Intense should be more successful now that they ditched the VPP. But why is Santa Cruz pretty successful with it while Intense wouldn't ?

You must know those guys pretty well if you didn't know this was coming. I know how you feel though, when Apple released a watch, I was like "how could you do this to me?!?! I HATE watches so ill never use your phones or computers again!!!". Then there was that other time when TLD released something in non-fluro colors! "WTF...that's not your ethos?!?! I'm out!". Don't even get me started on 29er wheels. The NERVE of some companies who don't EXCLUSIVELY cater to ME ME ME ME and MY MY MY wants and opinions!!!

Maybe because of supply issues ? Maybe big names come first and smaller ones have to wait, and no need to really advertise your product if you can't deliver. I wonder if it's not the whole point for DVO. After the Giant deal maybe they realized it was just not "their thing" to grow that much and prefer to remain...

May I ask if there are any rumor on a Transition ebike ? Or are they successful enough with muscular bikes so far not to bother yet with ebikes in these difficult times ?

Looking great. On the 1st proto I was worried the low pivot would get a lot of dirt, but if you succeeded in keeping the kinematic characteristics while moving the pivots in some "safer" place then it's even better. I play a lot with kinematics in linkage (but my designs don't go farther than 3D, I can't weld anything) and I like that you placed the shock and bottles in "logical" areas. Some big brands don't seem to bother half as much and just squeeze a bottle where there's some place left or no bottle (bike may be good, but...

What is worth a patent in this box exactly ? A fork has a plastic stand in a fork box. Bikes have been shipped in box already. Boxes without staples or adhesive probably existed already. I mean it may be a neat idea to put the 3 together but unless I miss something, does it deserve a patent ?
