willsmooth18 Added a comment about feature Ultra-Long, 210mm Travel Enduro Machine - Is This the Ultimate MTB?
9/16/2020 12:49am Thanks for reply, your conclusion is a great summary of what MTB is. I don't often ride rock gardens, nor gnarly descents, and I found myself being happier (but slower and/or sketchier of course) on my trail bike in bikeparks than on my full DH rig

9/16/2020 12:45am My goal was to create the ultimate do-it-all MTB that would perform in the terrain I ride in most - Finale Ligure and central Europe where we chairlift, shuttle, or pedal big road climbs to take on gnarly and steep descents. That said, I have also done >100km XC rides on this no problem. I believe short chainstays mean 'unstable', which can be fun of course. And short CS are better for smaller frame sizes, this bike has one of the longest front centres of any bike in the world so needs a matching chainstay for a good balance. Depends...

9/15/2020 5:25am This bike-check is awesome. This bike seems to be an absolute weapon to ride light-speed through rock-gardens. I get the arguments in favor of long chainstays, etc... BUT ! Am I wrong thinking short chainstays (425mm max...) are fun ?

9/1/2020 1:12pm I build it for the bikepark. I've always been a fan of simplicity and for what I'm doing with this bike I don't need either so I thought it would be cleaner, simpler, lighter and more original without them. Also the cockpit is a dream without all those levers.

9/1/2020 3:34am Damn, poor Marine, it sounds terrible. A friend I used to work with had it in march. She's 29, super healthy, no previous respiratory issues. West coast surfer/climber girl who was finishing up law school with honors. 6 months later and shes still dealing with issues and says it feels like shes breathing with a weight on her chest all the time. Scary shit, sure you'll likely be fine, and the chances of dying is low, but there's also ending up with a debilitating respiratory issue for life.

willsmooth18 Added a reply to Would a Mullet bike set up make hitting jumps easier??
8/20/2020 6:42am Nope, I took the radius for the wheel. Anyway, maybe I overestimated the 29" wheel diameter. But in the end we agree on the use of mulletting a bike.

8/20/2020 3:05am Yep, mulletting a 29er looks like less beneficial than mulleting a 27,5 frame. BB already low becomes too low, chainstays are longer, etc... Mulletting a 27,5 can have advantages for sure, putting the BB a little higher from the rear wheel and lower from the front wheel = better integration "in" the bike AND easier to manual. And head angle...

8/20/2020 2:53am Personal opinion based on multiple hours in the bike park testing: Short version: There is very little benefit to taking a 29er frame and going to a mullet setup. Long version: As recently as 2 weekends ago I tore up my 29er rear tyre in 3 places in 2 runs at Isola 2000, rather than fix it again, i swapped over to my e-bike rear wheel. 29er wheel: DT swiss e1900 (with 36t ratchet), 30mm wide, + Michelin wild something tyre 2.35 wide. 27.5 wheel: Commencal built wheel with spank rim+ 35mm wide, nukeproff ARD foam, michelin E-Wild 2.6 Bike...

8/17/2020 1:23am I'd say this was their intent too. The wetscream hasn't seen use since 2014 cairns I think and it's an old design (even though I tried one and it is not bad, it just feels a bit weird). Shorty's knobs are maybe too short and the central rectangular one may not jel well with deep stuff. Maxxis are expanding their range of dh tires a lot, how many are there, 8?

8/5/2020 1:49am Fair points! I suppose what I was hoping is a noteworthy EWS dude would jump into this and get behind it. It has to come from the top. It has to be from someone who goes "yeah, this is how I'm going to race going forward and I feel its better for the sport, I/we encourage everyone to do it like this". It'd have to be defined a bit better, too. But ultimately, like I said, the social pressure is big. If it becomes "uncool" to try and game this, show up early, etc. it'll cut down on it. Its...

8/4/2020 1:05pm I took part in an enduro race in 2016, it was my only experience of it ('cause I hate all the logistics I've to put together ^^), and f***in' loved it ! But even if it was in the rulebook that NO "trainings" were allowed, a whole lot (a third at least) of riders came friday and rode the trails...
