This is the Aaron interview I've always wanted. Thanks for being candid Gwin, and thanks for asking some uncomfortable-ish questions Spomer!

@NoahColorado, Maybe we have different thoughts on what "laughable" means. According to the dictionary, it is defined as "so ludicrous as to be amusing". I think this conversation alone shows its not so ludicrous (but it might be amusing...in a certain weird way). In modern context, "laughable" seems like a way to write someone's ideas off without even addressing them. A synonym might be "delusional". As we are seeing now, there is certainly a logical back and forth to be had about this topic which in and of itself should suggest its not laughable nor delusional. If these types of...

@dd and the rest of the replies/downvotes who may care to read this. 1) Reread what I wrote. I am not a conservative. My favorite podcast host is Sam Harris second to Bret Weinstein (both are self identified liberals/progressives). I also WORK IN NEWS. Literally, I stare at news all day for a publicly traded company where our exact job is to disseminate accurate information to the 100,000 or so who subscribe to our platform. I've done this for a decade, and if I sucked at it I would have been fired a long time ago. My point? I might...

Is Gwin implying it was nefarious? I heard it as it seemed as though his posts weren't getting engagement following some COVID/political related stuff. I'm illustrating how that might have happened with or without any bias in the algorithms. You suggested his claim was "laughable", which is a pretty lame thing to same IMO. You didn't say "I disagree with this", you cast his claim off as though he is a kook. That's not having a nuanced conversation where people disagree, at least to me its not. The fact is you nor me really knows how big tech's algorithms work...

Noah, Not to be a douche, but its not "laughable". Its probably spot on. There are a few factors at play here. Lets talk about two... 1) Most mountain bikers lean left. No, I don't have any statistics to back this up right here, but I don't think this is a far fetched assumption. If Gwin posts something that leans more right, and his followers don't engage with it guess what? The algorithm won't show it to as many people. Put another way, you run MRPs insgram. Post something political, post something right leaning, see what happens. It won't go...

csteen Liked a product review Long-Term Test: Specialized Women’s Stumpjumper

This Specialized classic has gone through several generations and has been the companion to many historic tails about epic rides of yesteryear. In 2018, the Stumpjumper once again received many updates. Among them, it inherited the previous Demo’s spaceship-like sidearm main triangle design, got a bit longer than before, is now stiffer and lighter, has a geometry adjustment, and the little details are more dialed than ever. For the women’s models, a female-specific Specialized Rx suspension tune comes standard front and rear. It’s safe to say this is a big update compared to Stumpjumpers of the past. The bike was...

It's very simple. They used something that's banned. Unknowingly or knowingly, doesn't matter. They are paid and are paid well enough that this is their job and taking care of what you're eating or drinking is a part of it. Cheating is cheating and there have to be consequences. Anything else gives a completely wrong precedence to the sport in its entirety. I was a fan of Jared (and it's unfortunate with his illness and everything), what Richie does on a bike is amazing (the Red Bull sound of speed video), but sorry, like i said, cheating is cheating. If...

Mr. P Liked a reply to forum topic Grips Question

1/25/2019 7:32pm
I've been off lock-ons for years. Lock-ons have a dirty secret, the hard plastic core that runs under the entirety of the grip. IME this makes for a very firm grip as there is not much room left for padding. Some riders like firm grips, and that is great, it's not an issue for them, but I want a grip that dials down vibration and has a touch of give when riding hours in chunky terrain. Lock-ons are great for the convenience of swapping out grips or bars, and staying in place (but I've not had a non-lock-on throttle). I've...

I think one of these companies like Trek, Intense, Atherton, Santa Cruz, etc should post on this forum first. Maybe just a half hour or so before it goes public on main page here or PB. Show us some love for our commitment to the speculations and rumors. Clearly we are the deepest invested group of super fans to the brands, riders, and teams news. Return the love companies. Or at least make us feel special for just a few minutes. Smile

For an experienced web guy this troll would cost about 30 to 50 €. For an experienced web guy, this would be peanuts. And the ensuing fallout in this thread would probably be worth it. FWIW.

That is a moto trials bike. The image is reversed left-right. You can only see his clutch lever which is actually on the left side of the bike.

iceman2058 Liked a product review First Ride: Troy Lee Designs Resist Short

1/3/2019 3:56am
With advances in tech fabrics and construction techniques, MTB-specific rain gear has really evolved over the past couple of years. However, perhaps because of its California roots, Troy Lee Designs has paid a little less attention to its foul-weather catalogue which as a result has been left quite a bit sparser than some of its competition. The all-new Resist short is here to start to address this point, and we’ve had it out in the mud to see how it stacks up. Troy Lee Designs Resist Highlights Water resistant design for wet weather conditions 84% nylon/16% spandex fabric construction with...
