Funny because I do most of my bashguard smashing on technical climbs and getting over low-speed logs and rocks, not on downhills. I would never want an MTB without one.

The reason you would glue grips is so they don't move and don't have the hard inner core (and sometimes outer ring) of lock-ons. The difference in cush is substantial and the reason to keep gluing.

This. I enjoy pretty bike pictures but like to talk about bikes more. Seeing someone who is obviously racking up the miles tells me that the owner knows what they do/don't like about certain parts. I've got a V3 Bronson with the same rear triangle wear. I'm wondering if anybody can provide suggestions. I've done the 3M clear tape, but I wear through it in a couple weeks. I've relegated to just wrapping it with electrical tape because its easier to replace when worn. If anybody has suggestions let me know. I'd rather not wear a hole into my rear...

Would love to build up a Sunday for a park bike, nice they've got a 1.5 headtube to allow the angleset. Nice work putting this together!

Love the idea and video, but PLEASE wear eye protection when cutting metal! I work with eyes and the amount of young guys who end up blind or partially sighted because they didn't wear eye protection when cutting or hammering metal is higher than you'd think. Looking forward to the next installment!

I think I ride with a lot more weight on my rear tire. I don't break front wheels nearly as often, I don't experience tire roll nearly as much, and I typically run 4-6 psi less in my front tire. I had a Huck Norris in the front wheel for the last year, but it turned my Stan's Sealant into a gigantic black Stan's ball, so I took it out.

I had it for a while for hunting. It's a good app and they have a ton of work to upload all the data you need. In theory you could put the data together yourself, but it would cost a lot more than the $30 a year in your time. I don't know of any other database nearly as good. For hunting in CA it is one of the only ways to find where it is legal to hunt.

This build is so much cooler than all these AXS $11k builds. Didn't just fit the most expensive parts money can buy, actually made it fit your needs. Nice.

Tullie, I did mention this at 7:20 in the video. we lowered our forecast in March and April, and that was based on what we were seeing from retailers cancelling orders and not wanting them. Our factory was closed in peak production season per order of the state of California! We had to send back trucks en route to the loading docks with nobody there to receive them. Send me your number so I can text for advice during the next pandemic

Those are both creative solutions, but I don't think they're the right tool to solve the OP's problem. I agree that head angles are crazy slack right now on trail bikes (63 seems crazy to me), but I think head angles should be chosen primarily to optimize steering feel and front-to-back stability, not to overcome other geometry/weight distribution problems. Similarly, I agree that chainstay length has a huge effect on front tire traction, and I think the eccentric BB is really cool if you can fit it in your frame. But I still think 90% of the problems listed in...

This is a great question that I'm not sure the answer to. Scaling stem length to height seems like a good idea, intuitively. A bike for a bigger person should ideally have a longer reach, longer front center, longer chainstays, wider bars, and taller saddle, so having a longer stem seems to make sense. But maybe stem length is more related to steering feel, like head angle or fork offset, and should not vary with different sizes? All I know for sure is that I'm tall, I've been happy on 45's, 50's, and 60mm stems, and a 35 or 40mm...

Nice, I love the "build it but don't build it but if you do build it do it in a way that maybe it will get ignored long enough to eventually become legal" approach. As a land manager, I can neither endorse nor disavow this tactic. Edit: But I will fully endorse not leaving a big, steamy pile all over other people's hard work, whether that hard work is a well-built trail or a successful partnership. Just be cool honey bunny.
