I explored their website, and I never realized the dozens of applications that belts are used for. I think another sponsor helping field DH teams can only be a good thing. Like others said, time will tell if belt drives are more competitive with these teams on board. Will be an interesting season!

If it's trend chasing then kudos on the marketing strategy. Wheel size seems a bit different since it had already become dominant in other disciplines and felt inevitable. But it is similar in that you have to design a new bike, so if there does seem to be a lot of success above expectations we'll see some scrambling to develop new bikes.

Yes, something else is happening. All of the following is a guess, but I think a pretty good one. Gates, a company already well known for Motorcycle belts and that according to google, has $830m in revenue but has only dabbled in cycling in the fringes for years is saying LFG. They likely want in on the E-bike market as mixed motors/drivetrains evolve and full power E-bikes ditch derailleurs because lets be honest, traditional drivetrains just don't hold up as well under an e-bike mashing, and they know DH is going to test the to the limits. This is going...

With Trek's announcement today, it looks like #2 "Gwin back to Trek" fantasies have come to an end. Perhaps being a part owner of another bike company was a deal breaker. All eyes on you Dan Atherton.

I’d assume people would prefer to be on teams with coaches and nutritionists and multiple line spotters and psychologists. Basically a ton more support. If I were to make a guess, that’s probably why the Jewett brothers went elsewhere. They’re super talented racers but they need coaches and psychologists to go up the results sheet and that doesn’t seem to be an option with PFR. I don’t know anything about BK as a person. I thought the Jenna thing was wild and something I wouldn’t do but Morganne and Emilie (sp?) have enough pull in their public standing and industry...

I dunno man, the BK rep around Surrey is very murky to say the least… even without Jenna in the mix.

I think this kinda sums it up - 1. If you're in a top 15 team, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 2. If you're top 50 for elites or top 100 for juniors, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 3. If you are the current World/Conti/National Champ, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 4. If you didn't make any of those, then you either hope to be on a). One of the 5 season wildcard teams b). One of the 8 chosen wildcard teams for that round or c). Your...

Big news from SCOTT today as they welcome Benoît Coulanges to the team. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The SCOTT DH Factory is thrilled to welcome none other than current Vice World Champion and two-time World Cup winner Benoît Coulanges to the team. This exciting French addition will strengthen the squad for the 2025 DH racing season and beyond. At 30 years old, Benoît Coulanges is already a force to be reckoned with in the downhill scene. During his time with Team Dorval AM, he built an impressive résumé, claiming two French Championship titles and earning countless World Cup podiums. Known for his blistering...

The immaculately honed skills of the French riders differs immensely from the wild flair of the British riders I mentioned . Thomas estaque and Hugo frixtalon are entertaining skillful riders who are completely different to Benoit, loic and loris and amaury. Those boys are elite racers who have have supercharged wild winning runs but they're not the guys who pull sick whips and doubles when they don't have to . Some of the most entertaining riders in the past ten years have been guys who weren't on the podium regularly and it will be a shame to not see them...

With respect Phil has been struggling to be a regular top 30 finisher the last few years. And like Kade and Kaos his skills may be more valuable producing content rather than racing World cups. And that sucks cos those boys really lit up the vital raw , sleeper co. and Ben cathro videos over the world cup weekends. Sad to see the gifted steezy and technical riders are being forced out of the racing side of the sport now . I wanna see some rowdy shit being done on some wild lines not just a load of Frenchies deathgripping...

For those playing along at home, here’s where we stand with the most ridiculous rumors so far… #3 - Phoebe Gale off FMD, going to Reece Wilson’s new AON team, after being prominently featured in the Orbea FMD press release. #2 - Aaron Gwin back to mentor the kids on lower budget Trek Factory after becoming a partner in Crestline bikes last year. #1 - Old man Dan Atherton returning to stomp $$$ DH podiums on a prototype belt drive after his most recent 57th at a 2018 Crankworx stop. There’s a few others close to the top 3, but...

Danny was on the TRP brakes last year so not sure why he doesn't have them now, supply issue or new personal sponsorship opportunity maybe.
