I'm confused. If people describe me as a salty person, does that help or hurt my hydration levels on a ride?

Coming from the PNW and never seeing running water on a long ride in SoCal has been a real adjustment, and it means I have to carry way more water on my person, or spend a lot of time looking at maps to figure out where all the stores and water fountains are, or both. Be good if they put some effort into selling bikes to new people, rather than new bikes to existing riders. If the industry was a bit more outward looking and less self sabotaging, we would not be in the current slump. 32" wheels won't fix the market. I love my Santa Cruz Bullit ebike, but under California law, specialized is now making mopeds, not ebikes. I agree with Hans. It's disappoint to see Specialized disregard existing ebike laws and try to compete with DJI for the highest power boomer scooter. 750w is a reasonable limit for ebikes. It's well-documented and understood that straight, wide residential streets are much more dangerous than narrower, curvier (within limits) streets because they encourage high-speed driving. Sadly, Americans have been sold the vision of 4- or 6-lane residential streets with no sidewalks and surrounded by groundwater-irrigated golf-courses in the middle of the desert as the epitome of the American dream/success. I don't really understand the arms race in wattage. Current battery energy density limits me to riding in trail mode in order to obtain any reasonable range on my rides. It doesn't do me any good to have 1000w available if I'm only ever riding in the 500w mode to conserve battery life. To me, this just increases the threat of ebike bans where relationships are already strained on many trail networks. Bicycles only appear to be luxury toys because of the way high end bikes are marketed. All bicycles are incredibly simple to work on(hence why bike mechanics get paid sub-living wages) and essentially last forever with the most basic maintenance(hence why the bike industry has shifted so heavily to rapid “obsolescence” in a effort to show growth on year over year P+L’s ) A 30 year old bicycle and a brand new bicycle use different interface standards and tools- but a 30 year old bike and a 50 year old bike are both absolutely fine transportation or recreation for 90%...

don‘t get me wrong sam hill is a legend, but what does he bring to a bike company these days? no content on youtube or any other social platform. should he get a ride/contract/money because he‘s sam hill? i also don‘t get the feeling that he‘s into product development either.
