I'm looking for the UCI DH / F1 comparison thread, have I come to the right place? I'll see myself out...

Can't speak for other countries, but if you're a US rider you pretty much need to be rich to get into World Cups. DH isn't a cheap sport, but traveling the country for 5 races that get you UCI points (and not even that many) is crazy. Expecting people to max out credit cards and make objectively horrible financial decisions just to have a shot at participating is sad, and fundamentally bad for our sport. The UCI needs to start giving points for respected regional races like NW cups. They need to just accept these races will be run different...

That’s what the bull does. Spend a bunch of money in some extreme sport and then get into a position to dictate terms. The fact that their media house is who we have to rely on for race coverage sucks to no end. The fact that the uci let them in tells you everything you need to know about the uci and their feelings towards dh.

Looks like it was a helmet trade: View this post on Instagram Never been asked to do a helmet trade until I was collared by Brook in Maribor. If there was a lid swap I was going to do, this was always going to be the one. After watching this guy in awe over the last 14 months battle through a situation that no rider ever wants to find themselves in, and to accept the challenge in front of him to get back on his feet. It’s one of the most inspiring stories I’ve ever been witness to. Obviously his...

I’m going to stop using logic to defend my points and instead use my wife’s DH bike! See look how cool they are!! You’re probably wanting one now huh!? I just saved the DH market, time to buy stocks in the DH market!

Right. Likewise, Surrey Hills has produced how many talented, internationally famous riders? A helluva lot more than Switzerland, Austria, Italy... Steep, challenging terrain is not a prerequesite to building skill. Lots of riding time is.

In summary of what I understand so far: -DH sales are down because modern Enduro bikes are so awesome. -Modern DH bikes are more capable at descending than modern Enduro bikes. -As bikes across the board have become better, more challenging trails have not been built. In fact, bike parks (once the domain of DH bike trails) have been building mostly easy trails to accommodate new riders on trail bikes. The way I see it, if the industry continues in this direction, DH bikes will cease to exist in the next 10-20 years. WC DH bikes will just be Enduro...

I’ve done my part and bought a dh bike this spring. 8 of us went to Highland this past weekend, 4 dh bikes and 4 enduro bikes, seems to be how most groups I see go. Last fall I spoke with one of the Cannondale guys and I mentioned not selling 500 bikes and he didn’t disagree, but they are a smaller brand that’s been out of dh for a minute or two now.

I wouldn't say racers are the only ones enjoying DH bikes, I quit racing as it stresses me out and cost alot. BUT! Even not racing I find my DH bike WAAAAAYYYY more fun than my enduro! I can get more laps on the DH bike, I can take lines I cant take on the enduro, Im more confident on the DH, Plowing through everything is super fun, it saves me from so mistakes that would have hospitalized me if I was on my enduro! I think fun is more up to who you ask not what your doing. I...

This would probably be a dsq for most people in slalom, unless you were a certain french rider and bitched enough to get a rerun...

Narc!

Did they kick your dog or kiss your girl or something lol. Your just all hate all the time.

I honestly doubt that.

Gorillas get paranoid at a certain age.

Well done Commencal!

even a bigger fan of Team Commencal now..! P"

and here we are. commenting on a bicycle forum. about race. thus having a conversation about it. whether you agree or not, having words like this in "seemingly useless or non-applicable place [ie - mt bikes]" gets more people talking about race. and not talking about race is the issue... i live in a major US city. this isn't going away anytime soon. have more conversations that make you feel uneasy! i love the paint jobs. keep on, commencal!
