This past weekend I rode on some of the old DH-R EVO's with the new rotors and they certainly felt more powerful than with the old rotors. I found it to be a pretty good happy medium of power and modulation.

Yeah, the caliper is unchanged, according to the folks over at TRP. The lever certainly comes in closer, for me, it was more of an issue of being on the other side of the spectrum, where I thought the lever was not allowing me to got out far enough. I think with the shorter lever throw and new ergonomics, the lever can be run closer than the old one while still engaging before hitting the grip.

The new brakes have a harder hitting feel similar to a Shimano. They certainly don't have as spongy a feeling as the old ones. (can't speak for hope as I haven't ridden them recently)

these levers can definitely be run closer to the bars since they have less lever throw than the old brakes.

Nice one! Haha, yea, no one's good at Mega the first time. The year I went was allegedly the most snow for that weekend they've had in ages. So much so that skiers were sharing the course. The best mtb race ever.
