As a longtime Transition fanboy and a Sentinel owner, I'm trying to not hate this move but it's pretty tough. I keep saying to myself they need the profits from this to be able to continue to produce bikes like a TR11 replacement and other great niche offerings. But then I look at those cables and go back to WTF!?

I think this is a very cool bike with Geo that is spot on , especially for an E-bike. That said I hate what E-bikes represent. To me it is a cheat code that violates the unwritten ethos of MTB riders out in the wild grunting and improving their fitness in pursuit of a beautiful experience. Nothing pisses me off as a grind a climb and some E-biker buzzes by me like I am standing still. No skin off my nose, I get it. Probably envy on my part. But it still pisses me off. .If want to ride with...

Love it, this "community" seems to be no different than PB. I literally said what majority of the others have stated on here in different way, yet the "burn him at the stakes for what he said/down vote him" mentality prevails...

Never got what mentality? That if a brand or company changes their ethos in one's mind eye that they should blindly continue to support? Having had 4 bikes from them spanning over the years, I have thoroughly enjoyed what they have produced. But a change like this, goes against my morals for bicycles in the mountains. Can't NOT mention the environmental disaster that is Lithium mining. Yes, I know some of the good folks that work there, but considering there are small companies that make their products in house, and are just as rad... Why wouldn't I try something else...

As a Spur owner, and potentially a Spire as well, I'm sad to see Transition on the E-bike train. Especially since their release video for the Spur had a whole Tongue in Cheek skit poking fun at E-bikes.

Unfortunate that mtb's are contributing towards this https://www.wired.co.uk/article/lithium-copper-mining-atacama-desert Sure for ol' folks, those with health issues, or commuters that replace their cars with a ebike makes sense. For the rest, just pedal your damn bike. Greed for "more laps in less time" not a great thing for our future generations.

Yep that headset is a deal killer and who wants to zip tie cables on a 10,000 dollar investment. Any engineers who can make a cheap and quality solution to preventing water dripping in with the cables can probably make a buck.

Well, as a "diehard" Transition fan, looks like I'll be on to new brands in the near future. Super bummed as I know many of the Transition crew. Didn't think this would happen, at least so soon. Also, from my experience in the environmental science world, MOST trails that are hard to get to on federal land are NON Motorized, which includes E-bikes. So, out to ride moto trails then? Lame. Many of my buddies are riding steel full squish brands built here in the US. I know where I will be looking to buy when it's time for another...

I take umbrage with your water bottle choice. I read somewhere that ebikes are only fun when you ride with other ebikes. The entry price is going to keep that herd pretty thin.

RIP Transition. Another formerly cool brand goes casual and succumbs to the E-Bike fallacy. And according to the review, the bike is not even that good. Also: What the fuck are those prices.

Looking forward to the day when mountain bike companies admit running cables through the headset bearings was laughably stupid and go back to cable routing that doesn't lock customers into proprietary headsets and higher maintenance costs. But unfortunately we probably have a rough few years ahead of us as companies try to push this bullshit. I thought Transition was better than that.

just piling on, but at 180 lbs 26 psi isn't a lot with those casings, even with an insert in my experience (depending on terrain of course).

While I agree that e bikes are not mountain bikes, this is probably not the best place to have this argument. Glad Kyle is to this point in his recovery!

Kyle's personal story is emotional and compelling. That he's been used by a fringe movement and to further their dangerous cause is disgusting.

Please ask him about Robert Malone. Kyle's situation is tragic, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he's been used by the anti-vaccination fringe to spread misinformation. Will you offer a medical doctor a chance to respond to any of the claims Kyle, a bicycle rider, makes regarding public health and vaccines?

Sincerely glad that you're healthy and able to start a return back to the sport and career you love. That doesn't diminish how you've amplified anti-public health views through your association and tacit (sometimes explicit) approval of cranks like Robert Malone and RFK Jr. The notion that you don't have a particular stance isn't supported by the podcasts you've been on and the company you've been keeping since last year. I wish you well and hope that you're able to live a healthy and full life. I have to separate my desire for a positive outcome for you and others...
