It's called cultural appropriation. And it's going out of style. Feel free to remain stuck in the past.

I'm saying it in the current context, within the current movement to highlight certain inequities which tend to be toned down or directly shadowed by the statu quo. If you are white and middle class in the US, you detent some privileges other minorities don't. Here in the MTB community the presence of not Caucasian personalities is scarce at best. To be clear: I'm not advocating for an uproar or any other violent behavior. I'm just saying most if the populace might be accustomed to using certain terms regularly, but if we want to move to a more equal society...

I wonder if you don't realize or don't care that you cited a white source to back up a white point of view that marginalizes non-white people. Nice "citation".

I'd just like to remind everyone bikes are still cool, yeti is still a great company, and being critical of something doesn't mean we "hate" each other. Sparring intellectually is okay. We used to do this all the time. I'd like to bring it back. Just a friendly reminder despite how fired up I may get. To anyone who I may offend in my critical thoughts, its not my intent, and I'm very willing to change my mind! Much love. (and go ride your bike) -Jeff

Looks like there are a lot of but hurt yeti riders in here. Whats the big deal? People felt offended by a slogan and Yeti obliged and changed it. Can't y'all put yourself in someone else's shoes for a second? Should we only change things that EVERYONE agrees is bad? Not sure why so many people feel so strongly about this.

I'm offended that someone is offended by something that doesn't offend me, and I'm not a ROBOT who's easily offended.

It's a matter of privilege. If you're part of the privileged group, you won't notice it.

Reading through the comments here and at PB I came to realize there's a growing trend in the US to privilege the freedom at all costs, even when it means the oppression and demeaning of an already oppressed and demeaned minority will be perpetuated. What you are essentially voicing here is your wish to remain part of a privileged segment of the population. I get it, you feel menaced by those trying to get a bigger cut off the pie than they were traditionally allowed to, but it doesn't change the fact that if you advocate for a more equal...

How is dropping the term going to hurt you? Its use hurts others, and it's not up to you to declare that it doesn't. Clearly, you just wish your viewpoint to be privileged over those of marginalized people. And yes, they are marginalized; the continued skepticism towards the wishes and desires of indigenous people is both cause and evidence of that.

What is it that you don't get about listening to others' feelings and opinions about things and taking them to heart? It's childish. Schoolyard bullies think its fun to push other kids on the ground, but we teach them not to because it hurts others. We don't say, "It's ridiculous that the kid is hurt by the other's fun. No one is allowed to have an opposing viewpoint anymore! Down with PC culture!" If you refuse to change your ways even after someone has pointed out that they're offensive or harmful to them, just because they're 'fun', then you're willfully...

How will those experiencing the means to acquire fine taste express brand loyalty without a trendy name for their exclusive group to lord over the proletariat?

Bye Felicia. Don’t worry sspomer. I just signed up as a new member to replace this whiner when he leaves. I dig e-bikes. I don’t own one yet but I do have a ktm 200 trail bike and many bicycles. One of my favorite things to do on the dirt bike is put it in neutral on the downhills and turn it off and coast to the bottom like I’m riding my downhill bike. I can only imagine that would be even funner on an e-bike.

Money indeed. Price, UT is a small little town that survives on tourism. It's great to see more people experiencing their local trail system due to ebikes. I have seen more trail systems get shut down due to wreckless mountain bikers than I have due to ebikes. As of trail damage goes, you can do way more trail damage when riding in the wrong conditions then you will ever do on an emtb in normal conditions. All the sencarios you're talking about are the 1%, 99 percent of the people on ebikes are just out riding like everyone else. My...

It's better than seeing a kid on an ipad or cell phone. I recently picked up an ebike in the hope to drive my car less. I now ride to the trailhead each way 6 miles to non-motorized but legal to ebike trails . hard to complain there. Do agree that ebikes should be on legal trails only. The numbers are limited now for legal emtb trails but the numbers are growing thanks to people for bikes. I just lent the BLM a bike for a week and they were amazed. They did not have any complaints about the safety...

You have to be pretty clueless to not realize they're made for bike trails and are miles apart from a moto. Once again , there is no conflicts happening between mtb and emtb unless you factor in the clueless. Why do you insist on dictating how people want to ride if there is no trail conflict?

Wut!?! Thats hilarious. The "soul" of mtb. Too funny. Give me a break. If youre going to use terms like that you should atleast wax on poetically. Instead we get your feelings. There isn't a rash of collisions in countries that have allowed them for years. There isnt any extreme enviromental damage. Why is it any of your business if theyre proven to not be effecting your ride? Oh right , the "soul" and your "feelings". Why are all you yanks all about freedom until your feelings are contradicted? If you minded your own business you'd probably enjoy your ride...
