great for racing, not great for playing. Nothing plows quite like a super high pivot, but they can be hard to generate speed on flatter terrain. I won't pretend to understand what the I-Track patent actually covers, but it looks like it may infringe on the patent based on the fact that the idler is independently mobile from the frame...

Name goes back some 15-20 years ago when first proper tubeless components were introduced (tubeless ready tires, tubeless wheelsets like mavic demax, which are not drilled throught etc) but a lot of us scrubs couldnt afford those and sealants were not as good as they are today so if not using proper parts the setup most likely wouldnt hold air and a ghetto setup was invented by cutting a 20" innertube and streching it over a rim and then mounting a tire, so the cut innertube would rest between the tire and the rim effectively sealing it. Combined with the...

One thing that's desirable about the Foes method pictured here is that when the progression comes from the spring instead of from the leverage rate, it doesn't spike or slow the shaft speed at various positions in the shock travel, which can adversely change the damping feel at various points in the travel. One downside is that it's a whole mess of springs you need to have on hand to sort through until you find your desired ride height and suspension feel. In the case of this Foes they're also expensive titanium springs. My suspicion is that 99% of riders...

I love that you think gearboxes will become ubiquitous on ebikes and will entirely replace mechanical derailleurs and electronic battery-powered derailleurs and electronic hard-wired derailleurs and autoshift derailleurs and internally geared hubs, instead of becoming one more option among a confusing sea of options and pricepoints, like everything else in the bike industry. If only it were that simple.

Similarly, I picked up an unused team frame back in 2014 (I think) and it was my favorite DH bike hands down. One of the few bikes I wish I still had.

I’m thinking about starting a new poll thread. It will be called “would you rather” The options will be: Would you rather take the time to actually read and learn about “ecvt’s” in regards to bikes? Orrrrrrrr…. Would you rather smash up an incandescent light bulb and smash the shards into your eyeballs? This thread is getting exhausting with gearbox nerds.

I've had countless bikes, still chasing the dragon of my Ex Dean Lucas world champs wilsons rear suspension performance. There was so much trick stuff on that bike, coil converted world cup, proto 27.5 rear linkage. Dumbest move I ever made selling that bike

Not sure if this was discussed previously, but it looks like the XD Slim driver allows you to run a 157mm hub (and get the benefits of wider flanges) on a 148mm frame... https://www.oneupcomponents.com/products/rear-hub-157x12 Another nail in the coffin for 157mm rear ends.

Can confirm, took me longer then I want to admit to source NOS rims and hubs 😅 To keep on topic, a rep claimed a Wilson replacement is the most frequently asked about and that their 40th anniversary is an important one.

All i can confirm here is that it does not look like someone took a chainsaw to it, but they have not taken a spartan approch to the design. I think it's going to create a big bang when it drops.

Those 28-spoke aluminum Easton wheels on Steve's bike had a very, very, very hard and very short life.
