Heavier yes. More expensive maybe, depends on how the lugs are made. If they can be made cheaply enough, I could imagine the final production price to be fairly similar to welded frames. As you don't need a welder, don't need to straighten the frames during heat treating, don't need to heat treat them, etc. The production process could potentially be a lot less energy intensive, at least the assembly of it (if the parts themselves are produced energy intensely). FYI, aluminium cars are bonded, not welded.

Mechanical groupsets for road bikes (the stuff that basically doesn't exist from classical 'western' brands anymore...) is tested all over YouTube. Don't have a heartbeat on it, a but a friend of mine is very convinced they will make massive inroads on the market share sooner rather than later. One running theory is that Sram will focus on the high end, high margin stuff (AXS) and leave the lower, mechanical end to the Chinese. For wheel, Peak Torque is testing loads of them from different brands and does the nitty gritty on them, aero and stiffness testing, taking a close...

Because it's chinese? Hate to break it to you, but when it comes to road stuff, carbon wheels and mechanical drivetrain groups from China appear to be pummeling western products into the ground. I don't think it's a good idea to wholly dismiss overseas stuff and development...

I'm assuming this could be turned 180 degrees to slacken a seat angle as well? Some bikes take seat angle to the extreme.

Actually its not as bad as it seems at all The S3 has a 460 chainstay and 1295 wheelbase (im assuming the reported numbers aren't at sag values) At sag, that gives a 480 chainstay and 1315 wheelbase, giving a front centre of 835, and a FC/RC ratio of 1.74 At maximum length it has a 34mm extension of the chainstay, so 494 chainstay, 1329 wheelbase, FC/RC ratio of 1.69 So actually pretty balanced overall. In my opinion that is a lot better balanced geometry than the mega long Poles at their like with 1.85+ FC/RC ratios
