quote from the article "Keep in mind that this is not a shootout, and bikes were ridden and reviewed individually with their relative merits in mind."

There are lots of comments about the prices of bikes being too high. I'd like to point out a few things to be considered. For one, bike prices are what they are. High or low is only a relative gauge. That being said, Vital tried to get prices lower this year. It won't happen overnight, but there is some trickle down, and in any industry, the cool new things will always cost the most. It is sometimes good to think about what the purpose of Vital or other online sites is. I think their purpose is to show what is...

We are booked to attend the Evergreen Festival at Duthie. It's going to cut it close with Riot production to have Riot demos there, but fingers crossed!

amazing! they didn't miss a thing. no compromise design. ultra short cs inspite of a dbl link. nice tt lengths and really good SO for a 9er. very nice lines as well. could be the small builders niche re; a design that's ahead of the game

A steep seat tube angle will keep your weight forward while climbing, helping to negate a perceived "problem" with short stays. The 76-degree angle is only the effective angle, however, so if you're a tall guy with the seat cranked way up you may be over the rear axle a bit. I'm guessing for the average proportion male they've found a nice balance between effective and actual, traction and wheelie-ing over backwards. In my experience, wheelbase, reach, and headtube angle have more of an impact on high speed stability than chainstay length. We'll reach out to the boys at Canfield...

We pushed the limit of travel vs the shortest chainstays possible so the seat tube gets offset forward and then slacked out to get your butt in the right spot. The TT is measured level with the top of the head tube but most people run their seat higher than that. If you measure effective seat tube angle at 32" (a typical inseam) the seat angle is closer to 74.5 degrees effective. Although this might still seem a bit on the steep side, with suspension, as soon as you sag into the travel the seat angle slackens out another couple...

That whole write up is slathered in marketing blabber. It was hard for me to distill the what the quality improvements are (and they are there). True Trail. DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT. Rhythm Step progression. Vivid indexing. I feel like I am in a magic store.

Have got every single copy and never had an issue reading them... Although the content and subscriber service did go downhill when FactoryMedia took over. They've probably already tried, but I really hope another publisher will take them on.

thats 250 sets of Renthal stems and bars that are gonna be sitting around shops, cause anyone who's going to use this bike for it's intended purpose is gonna pull that shit right off. 50mm stem/740mm bars is XC spec by modern standards. really odd build, almost as if they threw on some mediocre wheels/brakes/cockpit to offset the cost of the DVO stuff.
