Also WTF Trek. Another axle size? Seriously. Why do people buy bikes from companies like Trek who make it that hard to like them.

Faulty logic and demanding absolute guarantees of performance are uniquely American consumerist behaviors. Fox dropped the ball with the 13 stuff and CTD in general. They are admitting that, and they have worked hard to correct the wrongward trending products--and with an impressively (IMO) short development cycle. RS dropped the Pike bomb last year and Fox has answered that challenge with this. If I were in the market for a new fork I would be interested in a 36 as I'm a heavier rider and I like to let loose going down hill. I would consider this 36 even though...

bturman Liked a product review 2014 Test Sessions: BMC Trailfox TF01 29

5/23/2014 11:53pm
Reviewed by Evan Turpen and Brandon Turman // Photos by Shawn Spomer and Lear Miller In a time when nearly every company is jumping on the 27.5-inch/650B wheel bandwagon, BMC jumped straight to 29, eliminating their previous 26-inch model in the process. It wasn't without a lot of testing, though. BMC fabricated dozens of test mules, including several 27.5 models. Having tested multiple wheel sizes and geometry configurations against the clock, the company landed on a 5.9-inch (150mm) travel 29er with relaxed angles and a surprisingly short rear end. The bike is aimed squarely at the heart of the Enduro...

Well done chaps. Mr. Turman, you don't happen to have the internal width of the 1501 rims handy, do ye? I realize I could look it up easily enough, but thought I'd ask all the same.

bturman Liked a product review First Ride: Cane Creek DBinline Air Shock

5/20/2014 6:02am
Review by Brandon Turman // Photos by Derek DiLuzio and Brandon Turman // Video by ZfH Productions When Cane Creek first launched the Double Barrel coil shock in 2009, it was the first of its kind to offer a twin-tube design with four-way independent damping adjustment. They created the shock under the belief that “suspension is personal,” meaning one person’s perfect tune is not the same as others. In 2011, the DBair was released, bringing the same level of tunability to an air shock. The DBair would later see the addition of the well-regarded “Climb Switch” in 2013. Today Cane...

I've had the Smith Forefront Helmet for a week (after a lot time of waiting), and after four rides in hot weather here are my impressions. You can really feel the air coming in and out of the helmet shell and you hardly feel the helmet on top of your head. I was previously riding the Specialized S-works MTB helmet for 2 years and was looking for a new lid to give me the same ventilation capabilities but with more protection. I bought the Troy Lee A1 helmet, which was comfy as hell but had poor ventilation, so for me...

bturman Liked a product review 2014 Test Sessions: Kona Process 153 DL

Reviewed by John Hauer and Jess Pedersen // Photos by Shawn Spomer and Lear Miller We’ve seen a number of the greats on Kona bikes over the years. Clear back in 1994 Steve Peat was rallying a Hei Hei Ti frame down local downhill tracks, then Greg Minnaar, Tracy Moseley, and Fabien Barel joined the crew, earning back to back World Championship titles along the way. They’ve also been ridden by several freeride idols, like Dave Watson as he famously gapped over the Tour de France. Now the brand is making a concentrated effort on the rising Enduro scene with...
