12/16/2025 1:34am An interesting look at the wound carbon tube process and how they stand up against alloy tubes with Kavenz visiting the Compotech facility. "Czech" it out.

12/15/2025 10:34pm My guess is they will sit'n spin on the IP to make sure no one but internal dev teams have access to it. No way a good faith, universally compatible product that can be used by other competing entities for development will be released from the S. Happy to be proved wrong as I REALLY want the MI kit but this feels like something that will never see the light of day now that it's been ingested by phagocytic IP entities.

12/15/2025 10:33pm Posting this in both Tech Rumors threads for visibility. Looks like a new/updated ohlins rear shock, as well as a different airspring top cap on the updated fork.

12/15/2025 10:31pm So far it feels like the old thread is the tech rumours thread and this one is tech rumours shitposting (which I am here for). I suspect that'll change whenever the lock itself comes. Kudos to those trying to post serious discussion in the new thread so far!

12/15/2025 2:02am The other tricky thing with tires is there’s always the question of what pressure and how stiff of a tire do you need. If you just needed to crush 12 mm tall chatter then low pressure, flexible tire, and super heavy wheel would be very smooth. But then it falls apart as you hit anything bigger. I know I certainly end up somewhere in the middle where it’s a little chattery on the really high frequency stuff but then I’ll pinch the sidewall hitting something taller. Not something that can be won on all fronts. The lack of sidewall height...

12/15/2025 1:56am Your suspension is doing work on the mass of you and the unsprung mass. Viewing it as doing work to slow down the upward motion of the wheel cuts out the majority of the picture. From a suspension performance standpoint, the argument for lower unsprung mass is the wheel can get returned to the ground quicker after it goes over an obstacle that causes it to lose contact. That is a direct correlation to increased traction. I think rebound is one of the most overlooked things across many industries, but what I was referring to initially was just the compression...

12/15/2025 1:50am I'm surprised we don't talk about the weight difference between AXS stuff and cable more. I'm no weight weenie (36 lb alloy Norco Sight w 2 lb of lead), but I'm certainly not interested in adding unsprung mass to my bike when I can avoid it. Seems odd, especially on a DH bike where suspension sensitivity is the whole point. I just checked, and a 90 series rear mech is about a 100g lighter than a GX T-type (incl battery). Better yet, an XT 12-speed mechanical rear mech is another 110 grams lighter than the 90 series. Not totally against...

12/15/2025 1:49am RAAW is a german company, last year, the total numbers of all MTB sold in Germany was about 80k, that number is getting smaller and smaller in the last years. now look at EMTB sold, that was 800k, 10x as much as non motorized MTB. so they exist in an ever shrinking market if they don’t adapt to the new reality..,

12/15/2025 1:43am Why yes, of course! During the Sinister bikes v Iron Horse east coast glory days, FTW and I would both have spares of all the small Sinister parts at local races and Daq had full spares kits when he was on the road with Ebbet and Smutok at Nationals and Crankworks. At Mt Snow Frank would often take bikes he didn’t even design or build back to the shop and patch cracks and ream things or spin up hardware over night for people. I never even saw him ask for money for that… Almost all the Iron Horse racers were...

12/15/2025 1:40am Riders that need a team Dak - FW is dream, Scott would be good for the $ and support (most likely) - Norco would be good for the $ and support and he is great at bike dev. To Axess Nukeproof could be ok but not really. Dak to Crestline would be cool if he gets $ Yeti would be sick. Also Dak and FR to Intense on their own program. Loving life living out the camper van. Dylan Maples - to FW would be sick - Norco would get a good bump and chance to have a top 10...
