Grease goes between the shim and the post, carbon assembly paste goes between the shim and the frame. Never had an issue with slip or creaks from this area. I own four 30.9 posts and just shim for everything when swapping bikes, if required.

FWIW nearly every single dropper post offering both 30.9 and 31.6 models use identical internals, including bushings, in both models. I don't think there's an appreciable difference between the two. There's a valid argument with 34.9 but at the same time, now that droppers are mature enough, I'm not sure most people are actually experiencing the issues with 30.9/31.6 posts...

I unintentionally ended up with 4 bikes with 30.9 seat tubes. So now I'm a 30.9 evangelist with only my emotions to support it... I like the idea of 34.9 because bigger must be better (right?) and all sizes fit with just a shim if necessary.

Wait...You don't refer to yourself in the third person as "papa" when doing interviews as your company burns to the ground?

Yeah that's fair. I was being too judgemental without knowing the real facts. Either way, shit show, I feel bad for the poor workers. In Australian news bookings at the bike parks and trail building contracts are going strong this season, so decent turn around from the anaemic summer we had last year.

Hey Nukeproof: seems like there’s a pretty good distributor and marketing infrastructure set up in the US if you’re looking to move into that market. Give Jeff Taylor a call. Now opening Bentonville and San Clemente locations: the Nukeproof Bunker.

I don't think you're necessarily being fair Steve. I just don't think we know enough about the situation to make such a damning statement. Maybe Marcus was in their ear telling them he was so close to getting YTG and all the rights back, and knowing YTUSA made up 50% of sales, had to keep them on the hook if...

Vital article from a while back at the Chinese bike show this year. Chatted with my local shop in regards to WR1 and they aren’t doing frame replacements unless catastrophic failure. Frames are being sent to a company in Vancouver for carbon repair. Molds apparently are being sold to Sava Cycles and they will be flying the bikes under them and not WR1. Below pictured is the proto dh WR1 but now Sava will be bringing it to production in the distant future.

Kinda bummed if they actually sold off the molds and IP on the frames to a no name China bike co. Holding out hope that in a couple years they'd keep tinkering away in the background on frame design / manufacturing techniques to make a low volume made in Kamloops frame work financially.

Well at least the Arrival and the DH proto are better frames than the open mold stuff they seem to be selling now. I guess it's good the IP isn't lost, but also at the same time... I think something could be said about damage to the legacy. Or maybe it'll make the Canadian made ones more special? As a...

A response to a post I left on the PB thread... " you are correct. We had an entire organization of employees based in the US that were ready to keep this brand alive. Most of us have been there for 5 plus years and made North America over 50 % of YTs business. Instead Markus choose to screw us over and will try and reopen with all new staff and under his control. We are all at peace with it. We took care of so many customers the best we could. US was constantly bottle necked from YTG. We...

It is interesting, right? Places that make for good bike shows are inherently bad for bike riding (i.e. Vegas, Friedrichshafen, Taichung, etc) , and places that make for good bike riding are bad for trade shows (i.e. Whistler, Bellingham, etc). Sea Otter inhabits a weird middle ground where it's sort of bad for both (sunburns, rain, and lack of vendor amenities, and the riding is aggressively meh), but Sea Otter provides an acceptable-enough compromise to stick around year after year, durable and longstanding. Outerbike has tried to fill that gap, and Interbike tried to do that to varying degrees of...
