For a company that just had their showroom catch fire last week (likely due to the dangerous batteries they couldn’t afford to recall) millions of dollars is a big reach, IMO. E-cargo is their market. They may have been early to “mindshare” in the space, but mindshare is worth nothing if you make a dangerous product. These days you can get a specialized or trek that does the same stuff, costs about the same, and doesn’t have a track record of catching fire and lawsuits from the parents of dead kids.

That's a soul-crushing sale price for Rad Power. I remember when I saw them valued at greater than a billion dollars I thought that was obviously a pipe dream, but to get sold off for $14m is wild.

Does anyone want electronic gears on their dh bike? I feel like this is just sram repackaging existing components for the sake of streamlining production. Basically cost savings being fed to us as innovation without any real world benefits to the rider.

If only Aero was that simple. Plenty of DH teams have tested in the past (most recently FMD and Canyon) but NONE have taken it further than that. There are just too many variables in DH. For example anything that helps with straight-line will have a massive negative when there is any kind of cross wind or need to turn.

You're forgetting about the existence of air. World cup DH races don't happen in a vacuum chamber. Wind resistance is more favorable to a person with a larger mass to surface area ratio (generally speaking, the larger riders). Loic Bruni is going to be less affected by wind resistance than Jackson Goldstone. To think about it another way, if they both go skydiving, Loic's terminal velocity is going to be much higher than Jackson's. They won't fall at the same rate, because air exists.
