2/23/2026 3:43pm The mention of BMX reminded me of something I'd noticed back in my race days... Bottom bracket height also can make a noticeable change in the feel of a bike.. A lower bb usually felt more planted in the turns whereas the higher bb helped with a quicker turn in.. Theory: Bringing up the bb and a change in HT length to keep the stack consistent could also give a slightly more nimble feeling?

2/22/2026 11:09pm I love how angry people on this website get when I challenge assumptions. You’re frustrated because you can’t explain flickable. You’re befuddled because we have never even had to define that term in the MTB world before: we have all just taken it for granted. Look, it’s ok to like short chainstays. You have adapted your riding to them. But you don’t need to be angry at people looking to improve/refine mountain bikes through lengthening the rear centers. Most of us just want proportional CSs not LONG CHAINSTAYS so don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll still be able to have fun...

2/22/2026 12:56am Respectfully, I disagree with your characterization of the Base brake's lever feel. I don't think there has ever been a brake in the history of the universe with a more on/off lever feel than the Maven Ultimate, and the thing I like most about the Base is that it keeps 90% of the power but makes the lever feel mushier in a good way. Lots more room to fine tune brake power using your finger on the Base, whereas the window to do that with the Ultimate feels like it occurs in roughly 0.04mm of lever movement.

2/22/2026 12:56am Woooo! I've always wanted Maven power with the lever ambiguity of Shimano's wandering bite point! Count me in!

2/19/2026 4:21am Now this is a bike that I'd be interested in trying. So much more interesting than all the mopeds being flogged as the latest and greatest.

2/19/2026 2:07am I'm sorry this is pedantic but every VPP and DW link suspension design is already a four bar linkage

2/19/2026 2:03am Put a plug in it trailside to get you out of the woods, then Rema TipTop tubeless patches (blue backing instead of red). They are stiffer so they don't stretch like inner tube patches do. There are very few tubeless tyres I haven't patched with them in the last 10 years, I punctured almost all of them and very rarely was it so late it made sense to throw out the tyre. On the other hand I patched week old tyres and ran them for most of the season patched. EDIT: if it's a really big gash and the patch...
