So they had a gravel trap on the test track for this very reason, I was able to test on paved road and gravel, worked equally well in both situations. I had to do a few runs on the gravel as I didn't trust the ABS, once I had the confidence to brake really hard it was faultless. Obviously flat...

I thought it would feel odd or I would be aware of the ABS doing something or the brakes would not feel powerful, it was totally invisible though and just felt like you had infinite traction.

Also got to try the Bosch ABS braking today, really impressed with it, not at all what I was expecting and really changed my mind on the idea.

Got to see the new Schwalbe Assegai/Kryptotal type tyre at Eurobike today on a random bike that it probably should not have been on. Knobs look bigger generally to me, though I could not check side by side with the Maxxis/Conti equivalent. Looks like it should be a good addition to the Schwalbe range.

meg neg is just a larger negative air chamber that you can tune back. This appears to be a position based reduction in positive air chamber.

I'd rather take a ~1lb weight penalty for a swappable battery than pile a range extender (that is surely over 1lb) on an already not that light SL™ bike where the range extender doesn't even double your range like a swappable battery does. I daily drove a Sight VLT carbon with the 630wh integrated battery for a few years and would've gladly made this tradeoff to have longer days and easier serviceability.

Slight switch of topic… I saw the part spec. sheet for an unreleased bike, and one of the models was labeled as having “Sram s1000 Transmission”…I guess confirming mechanical Transmission to be incoming soon?

HEY!HEY!HEY!HEY!HEY!HEY! There's NO reason for name callin'. Don't make me sic the mods on ya. Glad to help. PVD has some good insights and has put in some mighty smart work on his frame jigs. Shame his opinion of himself gets in the way a good bit more than is healthy.

It does break those rules, but also they are just selling bike parts to bike geeks. A new hub isn't going to expand the market or bring new people into mountain biking so they are better off selling the specs and not the sizzle as the target audience does indeed care about the spec. Most mountain bike product launches are...

Lets not fan boy too hard on these I have a V1, and V2 OneUp dropper that are not exceptions to the rule when it comes to both reliability, or standouts for OneUps customer relations. Both are known to be questionable (looking at you bushing that literally eat themselves) and any PB or NSMB review went on to claim them as the best thing since sliced bread, when PNW stuff quietly worked better, and were better to their customers. I'll reserve any opinion on these hubs for actual long term reviews. As a side note, I'm a fan of OneUp...

The launch video basically breaks every rule of modern advertising and I love it. "Don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle." "Don't talk about the product." "Customers don't care about specs, they care about experiences." It's just homie talking about the hub specs for 3 minutes, instead of campfire sunset B-roll and talking about the meaning of life with Christopher Walken. So much BS in the marketplace that they're able to be distinct by just being honest engineers who make better products. The narrator looks and sounds like he may have been the engineer who designed it (my brother's an...

I have a lot of respect for Dave. He cracked open up this can of worms and shouldn't have been surprised to get pushback on that statement. Very much to his credit, the Super Deluxe Air is regarded as an excellent product and possibly the most durable shock on the market. I trust it, it's what I run. " What I find even more interesting are all the internet trends getting driven by a small vocal group of people, sometimes with merit, other times as snake oil. The power of placebo is a helluva drug, and we certainly tend to...

Ask a group of heavier, smashier riders about your assertion that the shock yoke thing is overblown. There's this funny category of parts that are perfectly reliable, even exceptionally so, for most riders, but flip into guaranteed issues above a certain weight and smashiness factor. Carbon cranks, long-travel single-crown CSUs and high engagement hubs from the likes of I-9 and King are other examples of this phenomenon.

A lot of bikes would be about 50% better and more reliable if they just changed most of the fasteners to steel. I only say most because there's probably some where it doesn't matter, although I can't think of it right now
