I had a good day out on the XT/Maven's with redline likewater. No issues. No wandering bite. Just light level pull and absurdly strong brakes. I'll be sticking with this setup for the foreseeable future. Will be interesting to see how the long term reliability is, and how the bleed holds up.

I have also been interested in the alpine stars plasma elite shield knee pads, but they are sold out in the states at the moment. My read from looking at the alpinestars is that it’s more of a full on downhill pad, whereas the Arcon LT is more suited to enduro. I’ve test fitted the Arcon and found it didn’t...

I was struck by an odd idea today. I like the leatt 6.0 3df knee, but the 3df foam impact pad is quite thin on the sides and I’m not inspired by the protection level for a sideways hit or if the pad slides at all. I was thinking about this issue and realized I have extra d30 pads that...

Yeah that sounds like the code I used. I thought for sure they would have disabled on the slayco96 as these are already almost 40% off, but it worked Smile

Thank you for the tip. Is HOOKIT2025 the code that you used? $80 sounds like a great deal for these.

I don't have anywhere else to post this pain so I shall do so here. I've been thinking back on the year, and as time went on I really wanted a Zink Vacay more and more. But I had just purchased a YT Jeffsy and couldn't afford to invest in not only another bike but an even more expensive bike/build of course... But I was thinking to myself "why did I get the Jeffsy and not the Zink? maybe the Zink wasn't released yet so I wasn't even aware of what I was missing? how long after buying the Jeffsy...

I picked up a set of EVS slayco96 knee pads to try out. These tick a lot of boxes. CE level ii rated, super comfortable, not heavy at 680 grams for the pair, and have shin protection. They pass the “drop to your knees on concrete” impact test and I believe they would be very protective in a serious crash...

Once you find the winning combo I am curious what the durability of that system looks like. For example I had some Shiguras that felt great but in every instance I ended up with weepy banjos or weepy piston seals. Is there some mix and match combo of levers-hoses-calipers-fluid that feels good but is unreliable? Really enjoying the experimentation.

1: Falling back in love with biking and actively doing it every week. I used to ride a lot in the late 90s early 2000s but stopped riding mostly for about 12/13 years. I rode bike parks a few times a year in between but didn't have any sort of trail bike and never rode my locals. 2020 I got the itch right as bike boom started undenounced to me, bought a low end polygon and went out with my uncles riding group and knew it was part of my life again. Rode probably 25 rides before preordering a Tempo...

In the announcement video they say it's something they've wanted to do since day one. I'm curious to see how they integrate the battery into their existing design style. I could see them doing something similar to the Cotic ebike, where the normal bike tubes are also used on the ebike, but with an external battery. Will have to wait...

Zerode Katipo: Belt driven 12s Pinion Gearbox with 600% range and mechanical grip shifter, coil shock'd. Dead silent and compliant suspension while still having playful pop when needed. Drivetrain maintenance has literally been just washing the belt off. Never misshifts or acts unpredicably, never have to charge a battery, never have to check the rear shock pressure, never have to lube the chain, just air up the tires and go. Technically gas poor gearbox pedal pawl engagement angle but that just decouples the rear suspension from the pedals and makes it descend even better. I have to warn people following...

1. Raaw Madonna V3 — A bike about which I think, every time I get on it, "This bike is perfect." 2. Sram Maven Ultimates — I don't mind the progressive lever feel and the bases aren't silver. 3. Randolph, VT — shh. 4. Building wheels — Found my groove this year. At about an hour from pile of parts to finished wheel and haven't had to true one yet. 5. Cable-actuated drivetrains — Call me a retro grouch, but pushing a button does nothing for the soul compared to actuating a lever.

After a closer inspection of the Saint lever, the servowave guide has a sharper angle on the Saint vs the XT or XTR lever. This results in the higher initial pull force required at the start of the lever stroke. So I switched the XT lever back to the maven caliper and did a full bleed with redline likewater. Internet...

The Rotwild bike with Avinox has a swappable side load battery. It's their own design and not the battery from Avinox. 864wh battery in the latest Gen 4 version of their battery.

1000x yes - please make swappable batteries part of the avinox system. I've got a santa cruz bullit with swappable batteries and I use two batteries almost every time I go out on a weekend ride. There are only a few bike companies doing quick swap batteries at the moment (specialized and trek are the big ones). I'd love to...
