Maxxterra / new DH casing soon to come for the DHX. MaxxTerra has had a major durability upgrade earlier this without impacting grip compared to the previous version. Glad you like the tires!

The last time I posted in this thread I glazed the Kryptotals pretty hard for their long life, but I've been sucked back into Maxxis world by the DHX. Initial thoughts on DHX after two days in the park Maxxgrip rubber has confidence inspiring grip on rock slabs. I don't think I have ever been able to go so slow...

Been using a set of raceface ambush elbow pads for ~2 years now. Reasonably low profile, stay in place, and have saved my elbows in a couple heavy crashes. Pretty sure I would have been done for a season if not for these pads. This thread does make me wonder if they are contributing to my arm pump though.

lanky skinny dude so im hoping some fellow stick people hi there fellow ectomorph I've been searching for those kinds of elbow pads save for ce level 2 and found that ion arcon lt and tld stage pro elbow pads fit me really well, arent really noticeable, and provide lots of protection. I think I love ion stuff more than tld (blasphemy, but yeah). they just never slip.

Been in Whistler all summer and I've seen like 5 people on Archibalds and a handful on G3's. When I look around, I see a lot of v10 / Supreme V5 / Demo / Session / random enduros or trail bikes. I don't think the gearbox revolution is here just yet.

You've probably got all the answers you need but yes buy the V10. It's such an evolved, purpose built machine and mine has truly always been a joy to ride. Every time I'm on it, it makes me just love riding. I've got a new Frameworks enduro rig and it's the best enduro bike I've had but even that pales in comparison to what the V10 is like to ride. V10.8 and Ochain is chefs kiss

I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time in Whistler for a over ten summers. I unfortunately haven’t been in ~12 years. Maybe next summer. I’m just happy to hear that Del Boca still rips and things generally sound like they’ve stayed the same. I miss Original Sin > Goat’s Gully > In Deep laps soooo bad.

great report! del boca vista for life. if there was a fitz top-to-bottom del boca vista, it may be the only trail i ever ride.

While it’s likely that ECVT will come with autoshift to hold a specific cadence (like most current e-bikes do), ECVT e-bikes will almost certainly have a “choose your own gear” setting also. It easy to imagine being able to choose the gearing steps and range, which would be pretty cool imo.

Thank you for the kind words! Glad to hear you enjoyed the podcast and the history bit in particular. Yes, I do think the DJI and Gobao motor gearbox units are going to shake things up, but the gallows humor joke I was making is that no technology change is ever truly complete in the bike world, where there are still new bikes being sold with straight 1 1/8" steerer tubes, friction shifters, 26" wheels, and freewheels. Which is why I predict there will always be derailleurs even on ebikes, either because the ecvt is too expensive for certain price...

I don't think you're going to get very many people with 148mm DH bikes making the switch, I think the bigger impact is that more companies will be inclined to make their DH bikes feature 148mm rear spacing.

My read is that the new xd slim driver was introduced because the Shimano mini-hg driver has existed for years for DH wheels, and someone at SRAM thought "hey, that's a pretty good idea". The primary reason for the mini-hg / xd-slim drivers is that it allows you to have wider flange spacing on the hub, arguably increasing wheel stiffness/strength...

I see your point, but with an electronic switch at the handlebars, you could be choosing between a lot more options than just on/off or even a three position soft/firm/locked out. You could use the electronic lever to choose between as few as two but as many as infinite modes that are configured by the user on the app. Those modes could include smarter LiveValve or FlightAttendant modes that use sensors, algorithms, and active electronics to open and close at a rate of 100hz to respond to terrain in real time. You can't do that without electronics. I'm pretty sure...

Statement from the founder of VHS who sold the company to RideWrap. TLDR: owner of Dyedbro is a scumbag To the MTB Community, Back in February, when I first saw the Dyedbro "SHUSH" hit the market, I made some heated comments on social media. I was operating on raw emotion after seeing a product I poured my life into get...

My experience with super softs is about somewhere 2x-3x longer lifespan than Schwalbe and Maxxis' stickiest tires. I really like how they ride, but the durability is what keeps them on my bikes.
