2/27/2026 8:27am I have a proposal for the future, can we define flickability for bikes as having a relatively low moment of inertia for the rear end? Ie, less resistance to changing direction.

2/25/2026 8:24pm Pads retract based on piston seal rollback, not on master cylinder volume. It's a common myth, one I believed until I started deep diving into brake bleeds because of persistent issues bleeding brakes. Here's a video explanation: https://youtu.be/mPptmoy0u3s?si=t8CNIRP7x5uGnBrf

2/23/2026 9:14am I wonder how they are doing that, it's probably a bit different from how we adjust travel on traditional forks, since we want to maintain the axle to crown measurement. Could be good for making high volume linear air springs for the fork.

2/20/2026 1:01pm There's a lot of Shimano sponsored riders who are reducing their drivetrains down to 7 speed from 10, it would be smart of Shimano to make a dedicated 7 speed Saint for that reason, 7 speed linkglide saint would be rad

2/20/2026 12:58pm Kind of along with this, assuming you are buying a bike, if you are really stuck on which of two sizes you want to get a bike in, it's probably a good idea to start looking at other bikes as well. Look around at other brands that have bikes that suit your riding, odds are that there is a bike...

2/20/2026 8:06am Bigger counter is that we do have nice things, and many of them have different names that people use. And colloquially 4-bar and horst link are used pretty interchangeably (see most suspension design breakdowns online like Pro's Closet, Bike Mag. Bike Radar, etc). The post that prompted this was referring to the tallboy that will be horst link, so you know what they meant. Or, if you didn't, you could ask if they meant that.

2/18/2026 3:06pm I'm 6'1 (185cm) with a 32" inseam, so long torso and a 6'3ish arm span. I always used to ride Larges, 460-485mm reach depending on the year and bike, but I'm going to be going to XLs for my next bike, 490mm+. With how I've been raising up my stack height, I've started to feel cramped on a lot of...

2/15/2026 9:43am I don't know, I've found that some pairs of Skis handled a lot better when the binding was set back a bit from the recommended mounting point (a pair of Salomon QST 85s that I demoed for a few days come to mind), not many but some. Depends on the ski, the terrain, and who's using them. Same with bikes...

2/4/2026 10:06pm For now I'll stick to just horst link and ldsp for the sake of simplicity. Like I said on the other forum, the most consistent difference between a Horst link design and a LDSP design is going to be the anti rise. Anti rise is more or less, a suspension platforms resistance to extending under forward weight transfer. Less anti...

2/4/2026 5:25pm What's funny is that in all my time as a mechanic, I have very rarely had people decline repairs after giving them the cost estimate, I honestly can't remember a specific time they've done that. The closest thing I can remember is people opting for less intensive services, like not having the damper in their fork serviced and bled but...

2/4/2026 4:39pm Sure they might be maintaining the same standing body position on any bike that they've set up to have the same rad and rad angle measurements, and they're equally comfortable standing on either bike, but that does not translate to the bike having the same handling characteristics. You can't disregard the physical geometry of a bike by using Rad, you'll...

2/4/2026 12:33pm We can continue to talk about this over here to not derail this forum https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/hub/frame-design But in my opinion there are benefits to a linkage driven single pivot design over a Horst link, depending on what you are looking for. The biggest consistent difference between Horst designs and ldsp is the anti-rise, where Horst link bikes are generally low (80%...
