Eae903 Added a reply to Pick your 3 favorite MTB brands?
10/27/2025 1:42pm If I was starting a shop, I would bring in Ibis, Kona, and Banshee. Ibis makes a great bike for almost every rider, and at great price points so they would be my main brand for flooring bikes, honestly I just like Kona, and they offer something different from Ibis, and have a great line of bikes outside of MTB...

Eae903 Added a reply to Modern Geo Talk: Chainstays, Stack, Reach, and Bitching About It
10/22/2025 2:02pm This is going to be incredibly minute, and probably kind of pointless, but I'm thinking about how different ways to reach the same effective bar height and position can feel different, and change the handling of the bike. I have not done any real analysis of this, but think of the difference between having a slammed stem with a higher...

10/22/2025 1:04pm What am I even looking at here? All those bike models look ai generated, or like a concept instead of a product. E bikes as Tech toys was horrible for the bike industry.

10/21/2025 7:38pm As others have said, money is a major factor. Nothing is free and all things have to make money on some scale to keep existing, and so the idea that more people means more money is very strong and very true most of the time. Outside of that though, I think that the push to be more appealing to the...

10/19/2025 10:58pm Not to down play his crash but I was pretty confused why it took so long to get him down the hill? Over an hour delay, when he seemed to be at least "awake and responsive". Could have been the wind making the helicopter not able to get to him. Do we know what his injuries were?

10/19/2025 10:56pm This venue especially seems more worked in and full than others, imo Isted had the most interesting line, moved across the hill the most. Silva's canyon gap was sick, low, fast, and long, but not many other big gaps, mostly just drops. Maybe they'll move it to a different one next year but all of them are getting to be...

10/19/2025 6:46pm I don't know if this was mentioned before, but Guardian bikes, that kids bike manufacturer that makes those really weird brakes that do the front and rear with one lever and cable, are pushing for bikes to have a 50% tarrif in the US. https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2025/10/08/peopleforbikes… We should do what we can to get them to knock off the BS, I've...

10/19/2025 6:29pm It's really interesting that you talk about the older rampage being safer. I had the thought that Rampage needs to move to a new, untouched venue because it would likely lead to a safer event. If the riders have to cut their whole line into the mountain instead of building on what was built before, they will be more focused...
Eae903 Added a reply to Nerding out on Brakes shall we? Not another tech deraliment
10/15/2025 12:23pm The hope love has really started to come out here. I'm probably going to get them next, messed with some tech 4 v4s braided hose the other day and really liked the way they feel, super smooth but positive enough on the bite.

10/15/2025 9:45am
I have to say, the Motives are the best feeling (in the stand, no riding experience yet) brake sram has come out with. Lever pull was light enough personally like it a bit lighter but it wouldn't be a problem, and the bite point was very positive and solid after the bleed and piston massage. They just felt kind of right. Hope I can ride them soon instead of just working on them!

I mean, it's the lever and then the caliper right? Tech 4 V4 is the Tech 4 lever design and the V4 caliper, Tech 4 E4 is tech 4 lever and the E4 caliper. Same with these, Tech Evo Lever, GR caliper. Not for different bikes, just different, updated designs.

9/10/2025 10:38am Sorry, I didn't mean to say that it is a 1-1thing, it's definitely not, but cog does shift forward slightly, so the change in balance is not as big in the real world as it is when looking at it theoretically through loading 100% of rider weight at the bb. Yada Yada, dynamic position on the bike. We're talking millimeters...

9/9/2025 10:09am What about going up a frame size on an xc bike and running a short stem on it? As much as we talk about chainstay length and weight distribution, a bike with a longer reach will shift the actual center of gravity forwards, and help balance out the weight distribution even if the chainstays aren't as long as you would...

9/3/2025 9:16am Glad you brought up climbing in this haha, we really focus so much on descending as a community. Do you run into situations where you are looping out on climbs often? Must be some pretty steep climbs that you are hitting. Personally, I think that the extra maneuverability that a shorter rear end can give works really well for tech...

7/23/2025 7:15am Um... It doesn't mean the industry is doing it better the way it is or the way the industry does it that it's the best way for you and your one off prototype. Doing hundreds or thousands of frames opens up production methods that are not available to one off projects and vice versa. When talking about Horst links, the bearings are in the seatstay because that's where the forging is for the brake mount, axle, derailleur hanger and the pivot. My Bird frame has it this way, but GFs Meta TR, which is a single pivot, has the bearing...

Eae903 Added a comment about product review Mezzer Pro
7/21/2025 5:20pm I love my Mezzer, but I ran into issues with the HBO. I couldn't ever access the last 20mm of travel on it no matter what I did. I wound up disabling it and I happier for it. I just run more pressure in the IRT and it's great.

7/13/2025 10:37am I'm not sure if I was too focused on the riding before and this has been at every race, but WB placing a superman add right in a big open spot on track with a camera on it is really funny to me.

7/9/2025 11:59am I saw something about coaching and flat pedals vs clipless pedals a few posts back and it reminded me of something that I've been thinking of recently that isn't enough of a topic for its own forum. Current bike wisdom says that riding clipless pedals can lead to bad riding habits, like an over reliance on them to clean technical...
