Another thing I've been thinking about are trunnion mount shocks, and traditional shocks. I've seen a lot of people expressing dislike of trunnion mount shocks, and I am not sure why. What disadvantages does trunnion mounting have over traditional eyelets?

It would be expensive, but maybe a Selle Italia SLR Boost Tekno is super thin, no padding, straight carbon shell. It would also save weight, but try not to crash since it might not hold up haha. Do you notice those few millimeters that much when you ride though?

Yeah, and the prestige of owning a Yeti, and just other little factors, like geo and all of that. Nothi ng wrong with having brand preferences IMO, ride what you wasn't, not every choice has to be made with value in mind.

I'm definitely thinking 6 bar on it, with the axle pivot instead of a chainstay pivot, possibly with a pivot location concentric to the bb, but maybe not too high given where the idler is, and I think it'll have a vertical shock mount, or at least more vertical, that belly portion being where the shock mounts like the old...

There also seems to be a small "belly" close to the BB on the new Canyon. The outline almost looks like it's a cover of some sort. Could the shock be mounted vertically and be actuated by an upper link if it indeed a 6-bar ? Edit: from this photo (from Vital pre-race interviews) you can clearly see a link in the bottom bracket area. This would fit with both the "Devinci" theory and the 6-bar theory. I also wonder if the vertical thick element behind the idler is part of the front triangle or is a vertical member in...

That canyon having a concentric axle pivot is really interesting, do we think it's a high single pivot with the axle pivot or something different with all the frame covered up?

GT is really setting themselves up to be a strong contender in MTB, a real return to form. They just have to keep it going and be sure to invest in all their bikes.

Ooh, that looks rad. Are you using a bearing on that little pull link? Or is it too small to fit one.

Don't forget the DVO winter gravity series that they do at Bootleg Canyon by Las Vegas, those are great and they'll do like 4 or 5 DH, dual Slalom, and enduro races every year. I'm not sure if they have the next calendar up yet.

You could try sewing it to give it some reinforcement and throw a patch/boot on the inside to seal it up. I know some people who have gotten out of bike packing trips by sewing the tires. Something like this: https://youtu.be/HTKd1PpOZgQ?si=FzBu7AYCDhhc689r

Curious why you used a shock extender over slightly different shock placement. More adjustability? Able to change the shock length and stroke with different length extenders? Easier to fit a bottle in the frame?

Eae903 Added a comment about product review Maven Ultimate A1 Expert Kit

On Pinkbike, they have a graph comparing these to the Codes based off force delivered to the rotor and force at the lever. These were delivering about 250 N of force at the rotor for about 33 N at the caliper, where the codes were delivering about 250 N at the Caliper for almost 50 N at the lever. And it looks like it's a bit progressive. That is a crazy increase in leverage and force. I'm all for it. https://m.pinkbike.com/photo/26259183/

Might be a sram brake worth trying, seems they finally figured out how not to have squishy brakes, but my god those calipers are chunky

That new Privateer looks ok to me. I had a Ripmo AF even though that top tube bend is of the can’t be unseen variety. Performance first, unless it’s got a million bearings in it like the current Enduro. That got old real quick.
