Change is good but that's not going to be an improvement for us as spectators or the riders who were able to handle the steepness of the old track. A very different race.

So, I gotta vent really quick. The riders, the team managers, the broadcast booth...really gotta understand the split timers and how they work so it doesn't mess with people's heads watching or maybe even the racers heads themselves. I double checked before posting this with multiple sources. The split time sensor is hard wired into the live timing system on the mountain. It's typically a loop, post or box that picks up the rider's powered chip on their fork and relays the split time down the mountain. It's automatic. But it's also not acccurate in the sense of modern World...

9 min mark "we see mountain biking as a huge untapped potential, especially in key markets like USA and europe." = we're gonna try to cash in, realize it's too expensive, ROI is low, shareholders don't like it then bounce before our contract is up.

How are they going to bring DH, XC, and the EWS to the same venue? The EWS calendar is all about remote or underutilized locations that change frequently. They have crazy turnover in venues on purpose, and often in locations with little to no uplift infrastructure. Whistler, Tweed Vallley, Chile, or maybe Vermont would work, but good luck running a World Cup downhill at Madeira, Finale, Loudenville, Olargues, or heaven forbid Northstar at Tahoe. Yeesh.

I'm sure he knows what's best for our sport, and I'm sure he values our input and will incorporate it into important decisions. What could go wrong?

conclusion: just because this video is nauseating doesn't mean they can't fulfill on their promises of good race coverage. do i have faith in them? i think that's pretty plain to see by my comments, but as a few people have told me via text in the last few minutes, give them a chance. i'll try, but i'll be holding my breath knowing what happens anytime significant corporate investor money comes into something with the promise of "taking it to the next level" and elevating something to mainstream/worldwide status.

To state the obvious, a video full of stale corporate speak is intended for investors, not for users. That should tell you who their primary customer and market is, and whose needs and desires will influence decision making. Hint: it's not us.

I have wondered this for a while as well. If I'm allowed to say it, being the one who is doing it, I think it's insane how fast we ride gnarly terrain after only one look at it. It makes for loose riding and wild moments, and this is why I have thought Vital Raws in the past were sweet. Unfortunately those moments are hard to catch on camera as there is so much track that we race. More cameras would be ideal, I feel like last year we had a lot more camera's out on track getting footage for...

just skimmed the 38 minute one - this video seemed like a mashup of the vids they launched throughout the week. most was backstory about what EWS is, its history and maybe an extra interview or two? carlson is a good fit out there. his stuff was fun. the last 13 mins were e-ews. most of the vid seemed like it was produced well before the event or at least on the first days. not sure why it took until Tuesday to launch. the race is a memory by then IMO. i whole-heartedly understand just how difficult all this content...

Let us remember.... But yeah, EWS coverage these days is pretty bad – but not Unbound Gravel livestream bad, that was horrendous. I was watching that with my nephew on Saturday and he said "we already saw this part" to which I replied "no, it just all looks the same." Excited for a World Cup weekend!

As far as sram guides all you had to do was walk into a consumer friendly bike shop and they’d warranty them no question.
