1/15/2025 4:52am 170 on my more XC bike, 165 on my endurobro bike with 155 on order. I'm too lazy to buy new cranks for my XC bike, but they would be 165 if I could. Excited to give 155 a try, I did stick some 155mm cranks on the wife's enduro bike and she loves them. Granted she's 8 inches shorter...

1/14/2025 1:47pm Its on the countermeasure/bumpstop plate. Yeah, sucks to get to the point were you are bleeding the shock and realize that you actually need to remove/replace that nylon ball to set the IFP. I will say, up until that point, I was "shocked" with how easy everything was. Only misstacked the shim stack once!

1/13/2025 6:54pm Follow up: Cracked open a vivid air I have laying around and the process went super smoothly until i got to the point where I needed to replace the nylon bleed ball. Does anyone know what size nylon bleed ball sram is using? @TheSuspensionLabNZ ?

1/11/2025 1:27pm Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo breaths oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I want to like i9, but I just cannot get behind their hubs. Are they still doing their rims out of Kamloops though?

1/9/2025 9:36am I mean, I've cross-threaded a brake mount post on a bike made of swiss cheese before. Wasn't my proudest moment holding a wrench, and it just required a retap. I also saw someone who came in with the bolts sheared into their brake post mount after a "particularly odd" crash. I'm just saying, the more parts are replaceable the better.

1/8/2025 8:13am I remember being told when the Druid V2 came out that Forbidden is already using this standard and that looks to be accurate.

1/8/2025 7:32am By backwards compatible I mean: You can still use your old derailleur and brakes with UDH/UBH equipped bikes.

1/8/2025 7:18am Don't you need to remove the rear wheel anyways to swap rotors?
DServy Added a reply to MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation
1/8/2025 7:09am The problem is that the current "standard" of just a couple posts in the frame leaves much to be desired in terms of accuracy and convenience. Not to mention it's not an easily replaced part. If someone hamfists the threads on their brake posts then they could be in for an expensive repair. Just because we currently have something doesn't...

1/8/2025 6:42am File this under: Things I do not hate! I know its not holistically for altruistic reasons SRAM is coming out with standards like UDH and UBH, but these standards make things so much easier to deal with from the consumer side. Bend a UDH hanger? Go into any bike shop. Want to swap between 180 and 200 rotors? Buy a...

1/5/2025 9:45am I've had it through the shop and dyno'd but not personally ridden on the trail yet. I like the solid main piston (its not a mid valve on a shock) because it helps the damping to respond faster and balance the pressures more predictably. I think mixing a shimmed main piston in a twin tube is either to help it move faster (reducing low speed damping) or combined with preload as a high speed "blow off". The downside is if the shims are too soft the adjusters are very ineffective, the lag in damper response can increase harshness/knocking and if...

1/2/2025 7:01am Yup thats pretty bang on - the telum system is dang close to re-shimming the piston and in actual fact probably behaves more like what you think reshimming a shock does . The Telum makes a clear change to the gradient of the curve, and only that where as changing shims often has multiple changes in the force and speed that the shims open. VVC is frustratingly sensitive to tolerance - the tiniest change in preload on the leaf spring has a massive effect on damping. If you set it up with close to zero preload the adjuster does almost...

12/28/2024 1:01pm @sspomer How can we make this happen? I'll pitch in 5 bucks!

12/26/2024 4:51pm Actually, my time spent on a Telum is kinda what prompted this whole can of worms in my life, and I think to Vorsprungs credit, they pretty much nail it. here comes complete speculation, I could be probably way off As far as I've been able to understand, when it comes to a shim stack, pretty much every shim past...

12/24/2024 6:17am Ah yes, the perpetual fear of brake contamination. Does anyone use any brake cleaner to try to fix some of this issue? I have used https://www.finishlineusa.com/products/bicycle-degreasers/bicycle-disc-… in the past with some pretty meh results, and I've never really got rotor/pad sanding to work with any sort of consistency. It would be nice to be able to save a rotor/pad combo...

12/23/2024 10:30am Is your attention span that low that you couldn't sit through the 30 seconds it takes to get through his post? Like I'm not even sure HOW he could make it much more compact without missing out on key detail. Thanks for your thoughts @jeff.brines as always!

12/17/2024 6:49am Oh yeah I also mean to talk about adjusters vs reshimming - you should always exhaust the full range of the adjusters you have first, which comes after bracketing your spring rates/air pressures. A lot of people get led down the wrong path of making some assumption with spring rate and volume spacers (ie soft spring + too many tokens or vise versa) so if its too soft they will never get the damper rebounding fast enough and think they need a faster rebound tune, or maybe stiffer compression tune. Where if the spring was set better you might not...
