I went to 500 from Ohilns spring calculator that stuck me at 457 lb spring. I think it's all on what you're trying to do. At the end of the day, it is only 140mm in the rear. For what its worth, the Ohlins TTX is better than the pushed 11.6 I had on my wreckoning (in retrospect, that bike and its DELTA link has fundamental issues). For what its worth, I recently stuck an Ohlins TTX with an absurdly high HSC tune on it (CS40) and have been messing around with it for about a month now. I find that, while a bit liberal with its travel, the crap ton of HSC means that it stays pretty up and supportive through a majority of things and really only bottoms out with any sort of harshness on square edge hits that are full weight on the rear. First Impressions - As with most Hope products, the fist impression of this cassette were very good. The finish appeared top quality, and pulling a platter sized cassette out of the box, I was instantly blow away by how light it was. So with your logic , we should still be on bikes from the 90's. Why improve? Why go faster at all? Why should a racer get better brakes to have more control so he can go faster? Everyone else will buy them. Why should a racer get a lighter bike? Everyone else will get one. Why should a racer get better suspension for more control to go faster? Eventually everyone else will . FI cars should still look like they did in 1975 or earlier. Why race at all? I mean, if racing is seeing who is faster and faster...

Faster is always better in race, that is why they call it a race. Whether it's faster thru a tech section/track like Val di Sol or faster on a more bike park type track, faster wins races...zero exceptions. Every single fan boy of Sam Hill for example (I am one as well) wants him to be faster that all the other riders. That is how he wins a race. You get thru the super technical or super flowy sections of a course FASTER than the other riders on the same course. Style points are only great for videos and slope/jump...

Why go faster? Because that's racing! That's literally the point of everything about racing. I'm just at a loss when any pro racer goes "hey, let's not go any faster." I understand the safety concerns, but saying that we should cap a wheel size to prevent people going faster isn't addressing the real issue of how to keep riders safe.

4/27/2017 10:54am No need, its going to be 26" But seriously, no one in their right mind would say that 29" are going to sweep everything this season. It's not going to be the Syndicate 1-2-3 tour all year (probably). The gains are probably going to be 2-3 seconds per race, which still allows for someone to royally mess up a section...
