I’d like to see it run 100 in qualifying, 30 in finals, NO protected riders, NO WC overall points for qualification. big dogs would have to slow down to make sure they qualify (without flat tires crashing etc) and then you have another 70-80 guys sending it to make it into the final. Still gives plenty of chances for privateers to make the final and trims the final down to 30 which is good for TV. also a lot more simple rules and points which is important when the governing body can’t follow their own regulations

A bit more of rider's race runs and better course marking, but outside of that I think it's been a massive backward step. Semis are a waste of time that dilute the excitement and increase the risk of injury. Poor direction on the race footage, focussing on a peakless Bruni on the finish line while ignoring the celebrations of O'Callaghan's win, cutting away to interviews and shots of team mangers mid run. Commentary from the main team was woeful, do we have to rely on injuries to provide decent commentary again next year? How can that be a good thing...

Personally I thought the raised gantry for the hotseat really diminished the vibe around riders finishing their runs this year. It separated those on the hotseat and made for more muted celebrations.

I think the 5 person podium, while getting two more rides some face time, also allows for the podium to have a bit more action. 5 people spraying champagne looks way more rad than 3. To me that alone should be a reason to keep it, better for the viewers.

Watched K.Edwards on WynTV say it himself: sponsorship dispute meant he couldn’t enter. What could that even mean? Can’t imagine. Insurance related or something? Super weird. Kolb finding out he wouldn’t be on the Overall podium because said podium was now only top three was pure ESO…unsurprising, a bummer though. I think he’s right, too, that they’ll go with their initial 30 rider final and top 3 podiums next year.

thought of this too late to start a movement/hashtag LOL, but since quali carries no points, the top protected riders could rally for the underdogs/non-protected in MSA. the top 20 protected men (and is it 5 elite women?) should roll out of gate for quali and DNF. they'll still make semis. that leaves 20 non-protected spots for semis, so it would be an 80-rider semi-final for men. of course this means nothing if i'm misunderstanding the format (highly likely even though it's the last race of the year) or there's some amendment i don't know about.

I've also met CG and agree that he comes across as a good dude. I don't get the impression anyone is saying otherwise. What I and others have said is that his commentary skills need work. He was still getting the terminology wrong at Snowshoe about riders being up or down on time. I don't know if no one is telling him about his mistake or if it's a slip made during the heat of the moment, but we're nearly at the end of the season and it shouldn't still be happening.
