D(C) Added a reply to What to expect changing stem length/bar height

What were your old bars? The Renthal bars have less backsweep than most, so there may not actually be that much change in the fore/aft location of your hands, if your previous bars had a more typical backsweep.

On the contrary, if you’ve got the time and patience I would highly recommend doing the math instead of using linkage. You will learn a lot this way. Kind of like it’s good to learn calculus before just using calculators to solve calc equations. It probably sounds more daunting than it is, but leverage ratio is just the derivative of y axle position so you can solve for axle position as a function of shock stroke and whatever other dimensions you might be playing with and then you’ve got everything. Once the equations are there it is way way faster...

First rule of frame design, ignore marketing crap. Compare a whole bunch of different designs in Linkage and realize that everyone is slowly converging on the same thing. The window of preferred anti-squat and leverage ratios is narrowing in on roughly 100% anti-squat at sag and a LR of 20-25% linear progression starting around 2.8 to 3.0. Anti-rise seems to still be down to designer tastes or a compromise of the chosen linkage platform / shock location. The more time you spend in Linkage the more you realize everything has already been done...and thus why the window of optimized designs...

Sag isn't any more nonsense that the manufacturer's recommended pressure. Pick one as a starting point and tune from there. Document the changes and how they feel. Only change one thing at a time. It's a basic troubleshooting process and it's more important to be able to track changes and correlate those to the results than where your starting point was.

I had a tooth break off the big cog on an XX1 Eagle cassette and it was replaced under warranty. Warranty is certainly worth a try.

As an aside, I had seen that Enduro-Mtb article previously. It argues that running more spacers vs. higher rise bars reduces your effective reach. It does if you run your bar roll so that the rise is perpendicular to the ground, but a low-rise bar with more spacers and a longer stem would put your hands in the same place...

Awesome rim. I tend to kill rims but after a couple seasons, my ARC 30 HD is going strong.

Carbon rims can save a bit of weight, but the main advantage to me is that they don’t dent or require truing. Keeping an alloy rim straight can be a difficult task. Yes, carbon rims break, but they are perfect until the moment they do. And a carbon rim that weighs a few extra grams is going to be quite...

I'm not sure I follow. You can run the current AXS post slammed to the collar and the battery will clear the rear wheel. I am not sure why the longer post would be an issue for taller riders.

Stop buying cheap chains. XX1 and X01 are way more durable and stronger than GX. In the long run these will save you money

It’s hard to see the details given the resolution of the photo, but I thought it looked different from Jesse’s electronic shock PB recently did an article on. But I could be wrong.

From EWS Whistler photos on the other site - looks like Richie is also a shock based on the Float X. It’s hard to tell from the photo but it looks different from Jesse’s electronic shock.

Agreed: "From an online spectator point of view: the lack of vital slideshows with the daily interviews and stories robs the race of any narrative. I still think this was the best format to follow the event." It feels like EWS/UCI coverage has dwindled since pre-covid when they did do a good job of really setting up the narrative around the venue and racers. Cecile vs Isabeau vs darkstar like Morgan or Bex or Melanie in Tasmania, here's the story of these trails, etc. Who'll be the first to get gelato by the sea in Finale Ligure, Richie vs Sam...

Anyone find the Pro stage and Queen stage annoying with the EWS? It's confusing to follow as there's extra points available and the pro stage day is kinda race day but not really. If it were up to me to improve enduro/EWS: -1 day of racing (1 day of practice and you get 1 practice run on each stage). Get rid of all the multiday stuff- rarely does the lead change after the first day anyways. Dragging the race out to 2-3 days usually just more of the same... This is especially true of local/regional races. I don't want to...

Hmm.... I was thinking the exact opposite. I'm glad they tested at 26 psi as that's exactly what I run on my back tire. Maybe 23 in the rear isn't as common as you think? Or maybe I'm uncommon. Idk
