Yes, the pad clearance is also better than on the MT5. Sorry that we didn’t have a technical figure prepared for this comparison, too. It’s a valid comment that the MT brakes could sometimes be tricky to adjust, and we were really pushed to work on this. We changed the piston areas around the seals, the caliper machining, and the seals themselves. In the end, this results in greater and, above all, more reliable piston retraction, especially for riders who put a lot of mileage on their brakes. GUSTAV and RACE brakes are much better and also the LOUISE calipers...

9/23/2026 10:33am Regarding pad face to rotor face clearance of these new brakes, you said it's 50% more than the super tight MT7s, can you comment on if the clearance is even more than the less tight MT5s? (I hate rotor rub and your brakes are the hardest to get rub free in my experience)

I'm actually annoyed with two things in my life: How much I like Mavens How much I like Freedom coast levers vs stock. These two annoyances means I have 3 sets of mavens with their levers.

Why is Post Mount weird? Did you think this should go back to IS Mount? Or should it be roadie Flat Mount? It's using a brake mount that looks like the SRAM Universal Brake Mount that was patented but I don't think a spec has been released for yet.

I run megattacks on my trail bike and park bike with an XL glove size. I like them because they are very soft, longer than average grips, and seem to wear pretty well. I rotate them from the park bike onto the trail bike once the diamond texture fades. Feel great without gloves as well.

I'm totally sold on chain wax for off-road riding in dry conditions, but hard to imagine this is worth it when all the other Muc-off lube products are so terrible.

Just wanted to add a few things and opinions here. I'm a huge Mille fan and a huge fan of all the gals conquering Hardline over the years, so take it as you will. We all have different perspectives. Sure, Mille has had her fair share of crashes, but so have so many others trying to find the speed to be at the top. I've always viewed her as one of the most comfortable on the big jumps and things. I've been rooting for her to get an invite for a few years, honestly. Anyway, in some of the videos...

I think a lot of people feel that way. Some noises like headset creaks drive me bonkers, but for whatever reason (loud hubs maybe?) I can tolerate some chirping from the brakes. Anecdotally, I think the Hope discs are the culprit, and I've found in a couple instances that their brakes get a lot quieter with different rotors. I need more data though and will update this when I've tried a few more options. Cheers!

For me, rotor rub and/or noise is simply a deal breaker and I've seen too many reports of both from hope brakes. I'm sure they feel awesome, but for me they're a no go.
